David Munson
David Munson, age 81, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday, August 19, 2022 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of the late Grace (Burke) Munson. David was born in Derby, son of the late Elmer and Beatrice (Gervis) Munson and was a lifelong Shelton resident. He taught social studies for the Shelton School System for 34 years until his retirement. In 1988, he was Teacher of the Year. David was on the Class Treasurer Committee and was an advisor for the Shelton High School Band. He was an active communicant at St. Joseph Church. David was a deacon and also the Father's Club Treasurer for the church. He was also on the committee that ran the carnivals in Shelton. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. David was the brother of Richard Munson; brother-in-law of Colleen Garofalo and her husband Dennis; and uncle of Alan Munson, Kelly Garofalo, Tracey Garofalo and Jaime Garofalo and step-son of Margaret Brown. On Thursday, friends may call at the Riverview Funeral Home from 9:00 - 10:15 AM. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 AM for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church. His burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
