Alberta Covington Obituary

Alberta Elizabeth Parks Covington
Alberta Elizabeth Parks Covington was born February 28, 1921, to the late Ed and Annie Bell McIntyre Parks in Goldsboro, NC. Growing up in Pentecostal Holy Church, Goldsboro, NC, she was very active in church activities and accepted Christ into her life at the age of thirteen years old. She graduated from Dillard High School in Goldsboro one year early in 1938. She dreamed of becoming a nurse and was to begin nursing school upon graduation but chose to wed instead.
Alberta married Bishop Jeremiah Covington on December 28, 1939, and they gave birth to seven children. Alberta was a devoted wife for fifty years. She supported the ministry of Bishop Covington and his many endeavors until God called him home to rest in 1990.
Elder Alberta was affectionately called the "Queen Mother" of the UHCA New England District and Mount Hope Temple Church, New Haven, CT. For many years Mother Covington instructed women and men alike to be mature Christians. Well into her 90's, Mother pressed her way to various church, district, and general church functions. She was a pillar of strength to her church and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bishop Jeremiah Covington; children, Miriam Cooper, Vivian Covington, and Linda Tripp; and brother, Isaiah Parks. She is survived by her children, Virginia Wright (Bishop John C. Wright), Deacon Jerry Covington (Barbara Covington), Geraldine Covington, Janice Caldwell; son-in-law, William Tripp; sister, Edna Broadhurst; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place Monday, September 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Mount Hope Temple, 555 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Monday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K.
