Jo D'Ambrosio Obituary

Jo Katherine D'Ambrosio
01/20/1941 - 10/25/2022
Our physical world lost a loving mother, a beautiful person and a cherished family member, Jo Katherine D'Ambrosio, on October 25th, 2022. Jo Katherine lost her battle with cancer, but cancer never took away her positive demeanor and never stopped her from giving out the best, biggest hugs. Jo Katherine passed away with her children, David and Laura surrounding her with their love and gratitude and her beloved husband, Tom, holding her hand. Jo Katherine was perhaps closest in her life to her sister, Ann, who was always her "forever friend". She was born on January 20, 1941 in New York City where she graduated from the prestigious Hunter College High School and Queens College. She persevered through this world with a determined attitude of success and a dedication to love her life and her God.
Jo Katherine broke through many ceilings in her professional life setting an example for us all. She began as a teacher of science with a desire to pass knowledge to future generations. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to become an incredible businessperson in the personnel industry. And then, after putting herself through University of Houston Law School (where she was admitted to the Law Review) at the age of 50, Jo Katherine launched a successful career as a patent attorney, eventually owning her own law firm.
Those who knew Jo Katherine knew her as a competent and kind leader, and a loving friend, always willing to help. She is survived by her mother Kay, her sister (and best friend) Ann, her children, Laura (and spouse Mark) and David (and spouse Holly), her stepchildren, Suzanne and Thomas, her cherished grandchildren, Katie (and spouse Phillip), John, Jane, Christopher and Elliot and her loving husband Tom. She was preceded in death by her father, Louis DiFazio.
Friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Jo Katherine at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston, TX on November 19th at 2 pm. The family will bring her home to Northport, NY for a private internment.
