WALTHAM, Mass. - John D. Vasilakis of Waltham, Mass. and formerly of Newton, Mass. passed away on February 12, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of Helen D. (Damels) Nayar and the late Anne Vasilakis; devoted father of Dimitri Vasilakis and his wife Michelle, Damon Vasilakis, and Chunae Vasilakis, all of Troy; loving brother of the late Andreas Vasilakis and his surviving wife Nancy Agape of Bedford, Mass.; and stepfather of Daphne Nayar of Woonsocket, R.I. and Satbir Nayar of Niskayuna.
John was a graduate of Northeastern University and received his Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a research engineer and taught courses at R.P.I. John was a member of the Greek Institute in Cambridge and St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston, Mass.
Visitation will be held at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston, Mass. on Thursday, February 16, from 9-10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Interment will be in the Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy on Friday, February 17, at 1 p.m.
