Harry Pallas Obituary

Harry Michael Pallas
January 28, 1926 - March 10, 2023
Harry, a native of San Francisco, lived his entire life there. Born of Greek immigrants, Michael and Irene, Harry is the second son of five. He is predeceased by his brothers Chris, Andrew, and Gus, and is survived by his brother Ted. A devote Greek Orthodox, Harry was never married but is survived by his loving nephews Michael and Eugene Pallas and their families. He is known by most as "Uncle Harry".
After Harry's father died when he was 10 years old, he and his brothers supported the family by selling newspapers on the streets in San Francisco. Harry served our country in the Army Air Forces during World War II, earning his wings as a tail gunner. After the war, Harry and his older brother Chris started a TV service and sales store where he worked until retirement.
An avid fly fisherman and hunter, he generously gave his time to teach the children of his family and friends his passion for the outdoors by involving them in his outings.
Harry was a vibrant active man who demanded that he take care of himself through the end. At 97 years old, still living on his own, he kept his garden, cooked his own meals and was known for his fresh sourdough bread and banana bread that he baked from scratch.
He was an active member of Columbia Brotherhood Masonic Lodge 370, member of the Native Son's of California, American Legion, and VFW.
Harry always had a story to tell and will be sorely missed.
Public visitation on Tuesday March 21 at 4:00 PM, Trisagion at 5:00 PM at CHAPEL OF THE HIGHLANDS, 194 Millwood Dr., Millbrae. Funeral Mass on Wednesday March 22, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church, 999 Brotherhood Way, San Francisco. Burial will follow at 11:30 AM at Greek Orthodox Memorial Park.

I remember my husband, Frank and I going up to the country property with Frank and Elaine. We needed a pot to cook because we brought some food with us. So, Harry,s property was next door and we ask if he had a cooking pot for us to borrow. Harry loaned us a pot. We returned the pot to him and he was delighted that it looked so clean and said we should do this more often. My husband clean that pot so clean. Any way Harry was a very nice and kind man. He will always be remembered and not forgotten to be a kind man. Maybe rest in peace.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Harry. We remember Harry was a great gardener growing garlic, grapes and many vegetables. He would share his garden vegetable with us. And, Harry knew how to take care of the delicious pear trees he had. The family had good times up the country property gatherings on Labor Day Holidays. He always had a fresh baked bread with a dime in it (a Greek tradition). What a nice treat on holidays. Harry was a good man with a cheerful personality. He will be dearly missed.
