Dorothy was a true friend and a wonderful person. We had a lot of the same interests, such as, gardening, crocheting, sewing, and shopping. Dorothy took time to teach me how to crochet late in life, and she was very patient instructor.
She helped me take on a sewing project for my church. Dorothy did an excellent job ensuring that we mastered the pattern for the hats and that the hats were perfect upon completion. She was a gifted teacher. One of my fondest memories and when Joseph purchased Dorothy a new Toyota and she and I drove to Detroit MI to visit my sister. While in Detroit, we needed to get gas and pulled into a service station, but neither of us knew how to open the gas cap. We read the car manual, but still needed help. We went inside and asked the attendant for help. Once he opened the cap, we laughed about how new technology had passed us by. Once I flew to California with Joseph and Dorothy to visit their son, and "California was on fire." Joseph Jr helped us to navigate around the fire, we had a time getting to our destination. I have many fond members of Dorothy and will forever remember her with love. Rest in Peace my friend, you are missed. Love Alfreda Willingham
