Tommy and I were very close throughout high school and even had an apartment together for a while , he was always even tempered and kind , I hate that we drifted apart over the years and finally met up for my 50th birthday some 26 years later , that was the last time I saw him , we lost him and my brother within 5 years and I miss them both dearly , rest in peace my old friend.

He was a great guy, from what I knew of him. We met at Camp Wolf, but were on the same plane going over to the War in May of 2003 if memmory serves. I was part of the 356 Signal Company Arizona national Guard Unit. 3 Individuals flew over with our Unit. I was 44 then, and we shared many Old Army stories. It was a great loss, when he was no longer a part of the team. I have always thought about him.

I came from Iraq, for a meeting at camp Doha in Kuwait.Me and two others were tired and dirty,we asked if they had room for us and they said we could use cots in a large room were they had people working.
MSG Thigpen found out we were from SC and he took use to where his company slept and gave us beds to sleep in,they were the first beds we had slept in since we had arrived few months before.He also made sure our stay there for those few days were good always asking if we need anything.
I will never forget the kindness he showed to me,and he made that trip a stress reliever for me,which i so badly needed.
I remember that time to this day,and if his family ever reads this ,he was a leader who cared for the well being of all who came in touch with him.
I will never forget the kindness he showed us.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Thigpen family in the loss of Thomas. I did not know Thomas, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. My heart was touched by the many wonderful/beautiful things written about you. Thomas it has been over 3 years since you were taken. Please know that you are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

It is an honor to pay tribute to Master Sgt. Thomas R. Thigpen, on the 3rd anniversary of the day, he lost his life while in the service of our Country. A Multitude of Thanks, for this fine soldier's Courage, Dedication and Service to our Country and for Freedom.

I have just learned of the death of MSG Thomas R. Thigpen. As the State Chaplain of the Georgia Sons Of The American Revolution and speaking for our President, George Thurmond and more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia, may I most humbly express the condolences of a grateful Society. MSG Thigpen, wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!!
