George Montgomery Obituary
MONTGOMERY, George F. "Ohio George", age 90, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Danbury Senior Living in Tipp City. George was one of the first Superstars in NHRA Drag Racing history and had been inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. He retired from tool and die at Delco Products in 1964 to devote his time as owner of George's Speed shop in 1950. George is survived by his life partner, Debbie; Son, Gregg Montgomery; grandsons, Christopher (Karolina), and Justin; great grandchildren, Kami & Harper. Graveside service 1 PM Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Day City Hospice in George's memory. Arrangements Marker & Heller Funeral Home, Huber Heights Chapel.

George was a mentor to me at my age then of 14 ! He was very inventive and smart ! I watched him service his 33 Willy´s and got hooked on drag racing! I became an engineer at General Motors in Ohio and followed his racing career to the end! A Life Well Live ! Thanks George ! Larry Henson.

What a great person George was. Just an awesome guy. Gregg, I am so sorry for your loss. I think of George here in France every time I drive my Econoline with the 240 that George and you guys built for me. What an experience. George will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A great man has passed I remember going to the first ever National drag race in Detroit Michigan I have watched George drag race many times and I never seen anybody beat him out of the hole and I never seen him foul the lights.
