I worked at Springfield Newspapers part-time when Dick was the business manager. I was a high school, then college kid at the time and he and I were very often the last two working in the 1st floor offices - his day would end late as my evening shift began. He always had a kind smile and a warm "hello" and "goodbye". Those were the good old days of the newspaper - when everyone who worked there was family.
