Mrs. Delores Green, a glamorous and spirited wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many, was called home on March 1, 2024, in Atlanta, GA.

Delores "DeeDee" Green was born at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Helen Howard and the late Jesse Blake, and was raised by Helen Howard and the late Reuben Kimball. She attended her beloved alma mater, Booker T. Washington High School (BTW) where she met the love of her life and husband of over 50 years, Kenneth Green. After graduating from BTW, she completed her nursing studies at the Macon Hospital School of Nursing, in a pilot program for the integration of nursing students. This sparked a 40+ year career in healthcare as a Registered Nurse.

Delores Green was passionately involved in several organizations. She showed her Bulldog pride as a committed member of the BTW Alumni Association. She showed her dedication to the community as an active member of Charms, Inc. She showed her faith as an active member of her church, St. Paul of the Cross, where she served as a member of the Mayflowers. She showed her commitment to service as a member of the National Council of Negro Women, a charter member of the Atlanta Gamma Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., and a member of the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. In honor of all she gave to her community, Delores Green was awarded the Fulton County Nurse of the Year Award and the Jonnie Roberson Soror of the Year Award from Chi Eta Phi in 1991.

Though she was very committed to her profession and social organizations, Delores Green was most proud of her family. Delores Green was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Green. She is survived by her daughters, Felecia (Ben) Kornegay, and Karla Green; her grandchildren, Benjamin (Rachel) Kornegay, III and Katheryn Kornegay; sister, Doris Reed; brothers, Ronald (Lillian) Kimball, and Donald Kimball; her godchildren, Melanie Reed and Harris Wilford, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life Service, honoring the life of Delores Green will be held at 1 PM, on Monday, March 11, 2024, at St. Paul of the Cross (LIVE STREAM) Family will receive friends tomorrow, Sunday, March 10, 2024, 3-6 PM. Omega Omega Services; CHI ETA PHI 3PM, DELTA SIGMA THETA 4 PM, and WAKE AT 5 PM, at MURRAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Utoy Springs Rd., SW, 404-349-3000. In memory of Delores and Kenneth Green, a memorial fund will be established to honor their legacy. The fund will be used to create scholarships in their names, assisting students from Booker T. Washington High School—their alma mater—in pursuing college careers in healthcare and civil service. More details about the memorial fund and scholarship application process will be provided at a later date. This is a fitting tribute to the lives and work of Delores and Kenneth, and we hope that these scholarships will help future generations follow in their footsteps.
