Felicia Gordy Obituary

Felicia Gaye Dawkins Gordy, age 61, resident of Collierville, Tennessee and the wife of Scott Gordy, departed this life Tuesday morning. April 23, 2024 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, surrounded by her family.

Felicia was born July 31, 1962 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Robert Sr. and Nina Dawkins. She graduated from Elliston Baptist Academy and continued her education at the University of Memphis. Felicia was a customer service representative for the Bank of America was a member of Bethany Christian Church in Eads, Tennessee.

Felicia was a self-made woman and was successful in many work fields. Felicia loved to travel the world and she did. Felicia had a green thumb and loved the plants in her garden. She loved animals, especially her yorkie, Sir Rudy Gordy. Felicia collected swords and Blue Willow China. She was a creative person who worked with crafts and enjoyed being involved with the arts, such as theater, writing stories and poems, singing, and performing. Marguerite Piazza, the late legendary soprano was a friend of Felicia who inspired her to become a volunteer at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Felicia was passionate about the elderly in her community and would take care of those in her neighborhood. Felicia will be remembered for being an excellent conversationalist who loved to laugh, dance, and keep memories alive.

Mrs. Gordy is survived by her husband, Scott Gordy of Collierville, TN; her daughter, Jennifer Lynn Bell of Memphis, TN; her son, David Edward Bell of Cordova, TN; her mother, Nina Dawkins of Bartlett, TN; two sisters, Renee Smith of Humbolt, TN and Sandra Snipes of Horn Lake, MS; four brothers, Robert "Bobby" Dawkins Jr. (Shanna) of Clermont FL, Chris Charles (Michelle) of Horn Lake, MS, Jeffery Craig Charles of Southaven, MS and John Anthony Charles of Hernando, MS; two grandchildren, Ellison Faith Bell and Genevieve Belle Haight; her first husband, father of her children, and lifelong companion, Gene Bell (Bridget); and two stepchildren, Faren Gordy of Honeybrook, PA and Randy Gordy of Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Sr. Dawkins and grandparents, Lillie Maie Doyle Dawkins and William Burle Dawkins.

A visitation for Mrs. Gordy will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Saturday, April, 27, 2024 at Bethany Christian Church in Eads, TN. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Bethany Christian Church with Pastor Ron Collins officiating. Personal Remarks will be given by Jennifer and David Bell. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be David Bell, Gene Bell, Scott Gordy, Carl Hellerman, Vern Cheffer, and Dr. Starr Cheshier.


The family requests that memorials be directed to the Memphis Union Mission, P.O. Box 330, Memphis, TN 38101.

Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center and condolences may be left on our online guestbook at www.PeeblesFuneralHome.com.

I probably knew her as well as anybody else did in this world. I could write a book that could include enough to be a novel. However, I'll conclude by saying she was a good wife, friend, mother, employee, servant of Christ, mentor to many and overall just a good person who cared about people.
