Otis Mullins Obituary

Otis Lee Gibson Mullins was born on August 11, 1928, and passed away at the age of 95 on June 28, 2024, in Abilene, Texas. She was born in Memphis, TN, and lived her whole life there until her declining health required her to live in a nursing home near her son. Her parents were Albert Gibson and Velma Langley Gibson. She was preceded in death by six siblings and her husband, Andrew Moritz Mullins.

Otis had so many stories about her family and her life in Memphis. She had an amazing memory for events and people in her past which kept all those around her entertained.

Known for her attention to her clothes, her makeup, and her hair, she was always elegantly dressed. She loved to knit and sew and made many beautiful creations, including several quilts that won awards at the Mid-South fair. She also loved gardening and was a longtime member of the local Whitehaven, TN, garden club.

She is survived by her son, Allen, daughter-in-law, Beth, grandson, Austin, his wife, Tali, and their four children and numerous nephews and nieces. She loved cats and her latest, Kitty Girl, is taken care of by Allen and Beth.

Family and friends are invited to visit together and celebrate her life on Tuesday, July 9, with visitation at 10:00 AM and the funeral service at 10:30 AM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. There will be a private burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, Midtown.
