Nina Scott Obituary

Nina Neal Scott, age 81, of Germantown, TN, passed away on June 30, 2024, after a long battle
with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. She died peacefully in her sleep in her daughter's home in
Chesapeake, VA.

Born July 6, 1942, to Paul and Mary Louise Neal of Houston, MS, Nina will be
remembered for her unwavering faith in God, her devotion to her family, her strength of spirit, and
her infectious laugh.

Nina is survived by her daughters, Michele (Brian) Miller, Paige Myrick, Lisa Scott Rendos, and
Melinda Scott (Don) Warmath; grandchildren, Zachary (Leah) Miller, Andrew (Hales) Miller, Bethany
Miller, and Nathaniel Miller; and great-grandchildren, David Miller and Emilia Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Nell Sullivan, and her husband Thomas
Gerald (Jerry) Scott, whom she married in 1979 and was with until his passing in September 2020.

Nina graduated in 1960 from Mississippi's Houston High School and always looked forward to class
reunions. A 1963 graduate of Mississippi University for Women, or 'The W' as she so fondly called
it, Nina received her teaching certificate from Memphis State University and then spent several
years teaching elementary school. She later found a new passion as a Mary Kay Consultant, and
she continued providing makeup to her closest friends long after retirement.

As a long-time member of Germantown Baptist Church, Nina enjoyed lunches with her Sunday
School class and other close friends. A lover of all God's creatures, she enjoyed collecting owls,
and she could win over even the most temperamental of cats, who would be devoted to her and
only her. She and Jerry enjoyed bird watching from the kitchen window, and together they loved
watching Mississippi State "Bullies" and Alabama football games.

Most of all, Nina was fiercely devoted to her family. She looked forward to gathering together for
holidays and celebrations, and the house was always filled with joy and laughter. She was
extremely proud of her children and grandchildren, and she surrounded herself with pictures and
memorabilia from their accomplishments. Nina was someone you could go to for advice, love, and
comfort, and she will be missed dearly.

Family and friends are invited to visit and reminisce 5-7pm, Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Memorial Park
Funeral Home in Memphis, Tennessee. A funeral service will also be held at Memorial Park at 11am
on Monday, July 15th, at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Brown of Germantown Baptist
officiating. Interment will be at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Nina's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
