My condolences to the Allen family. I had the privilege of knowing David and working with him during my time as faculty at Emory's OMS program and later when we both served on the OMS Foundation Board of Directors.

David was a fan of science. He always loved hearing about our research and enjoyed communicating it to others. I suppose you could say he was a "science groupie" .

It is with great sadness to hear about Dr Allen. Such a wonderful person and oral surgeon. It was an honor to work with such a wonderful surgeon and person at Decatur hospital in the 1980s and my kids and I as patients. I will always remember his kindness ,remembering me working with him at Decatur hospital years after we all left there and his gentleness to his patients. He will truly be missed.

Over many years Dr Allen was helpful to me as a specialist. He helped me advocate on behalf of friends and patients who needed the expertise of Emory University Hospital. No matter how often I called upon him for help, he never refused and was delighted to be of assistance.
