Franklin Burton Obituary

Franklin Gail Burton, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 9, 2024 surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 23, 1944, in Philadelphia, Mississippi, to the late Henry Tom and Ethel Mae Burton. A steadfast servant of the Lord, Franklin was a cherished member of the United Methodist Church Conference for over four decades. His dedication extended beyond his faith as he proudly served in the United States Army, fulfilling the role of Chaplain during Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield. In his later years, he found solace and community at Emory Church. Franklin's passion for knowledge was evident in his love for reading, and he also found joy in tending to his garden. He will be remembered for a legacy of faith, devotion and service.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, and 9 siblings. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Linda Burton; three children, Frank "Bubba" Burton (Carol), Christy Brown (Tony) and Micah Burton, and five grandchildren: Justin, David, Galin, Brian, and Jordan.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 7:30 pm with visitation beginning at 6:00 pm at Brantley Funeral Home, 6875 Cockrum St. Olive Branch, MS 38654. Burial will follow with a graveside service on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at Sandtown Cemetery, 11950 Hwy 482 Philadelphia, MS.
