Christine Towse Obituary

Christine Towse

Westfield, MA - Christine A. (Armey) Towse, 83, passed away on her 83rd birthday on November 29, 2024 at home. She was born in Hartford, CT to the late Francis and Lillian (Carney) Armey. Chris graduated from St. Borromeo School and attended Burdette College. On January 10, 1960 she was united in marriage to Charles F. Towse Sr. The union of 57 years was blessed with 10 children. Early in the marriage, the couple moved to Westfield. Chris worked at various jobs in the area ending with a position in Accounting with Reed National Corporation before retiring. Chris lived a full life. She traveled extensively through southeast Asia. There was always a story to share when she returned. She had been bit by a monkey, and chased a would-be purse snatcher through the streets of Jakarta, Indonesia to name a few. Chris enjoyed a multitude of hobbies to include gardening, reading, cooking, shopping and dining out. She loved to visit Northampton with its eclectic shops and diverse eateries. Chris was a thoughtful and generous soul. She enjoyed lavishing gifts on her family and friends, she never missed a birthday. She relished in finding the perfect gift for those she cared for. Fiercely independent and strong willed, Chris left this Earth comfortably in her sleep. We will miss the engaging conversations full of wit, humor and sometimes peppered with sarcasm. Sadly, Christine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles F. Towse, Sr, sister Mary E Bricket, son Jonathan E. Towse and grandchildren Lavender Towse and Douglas Towse Jr. She is survived by her eight loving children, Charles F. Towse, Jr. and his wife Merry of Westfield, Virginia E. Schnabel and her husband Alan of St. Robert, Missouri, Donald M. Towse and partner Dawn Roberts of Amherst, Daniel T. Towse and his wife Alyson of New York City, Douglas A. Towse and his wife Kristine of West Springfield, Carolyn T. Florek and her husband Jeffrey of Southampton, Theodore F. Towse and partner Erica Wehrwein of E. Lansing, MI and Regina L. Tillona and her husband Carl of Chicopee, seventeen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. All service will be private. www.firtionadams.com
