Willard Yates Obituary

YATES, WILLARD F.

Willard F. Yates, 87, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024. He was born on August 4, 1937, in Circleville, Ohio, to the late Charles E. and Bertha M. (Burton) Yates. He worked as a machinist for several businesses throughout his career. Willard graduated from Mechanicsburg High School and followed their sports teams throughout his life. He loved playing cards, especially euchre and rummy, and was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cincinnati Bengals, and a diehard NASCAR fan. He is survived by his three sons: Steven Yates, Tom (Donna) Yates, and Todd Yates; five beloved grandchildren: Jennifer, Emily, Connor, Jordon, and Jay; and his siblings: Raymond (Lois) Yates, Janet Havens, Robert (Judy) Yates, and Vernon Yates. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Willard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris, in 2018, and by two brothers, Donald Yates and Lawrence Yates. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Willard's life at a service on Monday, December 30, at 3:00 p.m. at the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. A burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
