Mary Steele Obituary

Mary Alice Steele, age 88, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. She was born February 4, 1936 to George Webster Johnson and Lydia Gladys Wolfe Johnson. Alice grew up in Pleasant Grove, Mississippi where she attended the local Baptist Church. She retired from NBC Bank after more than 30 years as a bank teller. She was a member of Balmoral Baptist Church. Alice loved to bake and was well known for her famous pecan pies. She was a collector of crystal bells and an admirer of beautiful jewelry. She also enjoyed shopping and having lunch at Houston's Restaurant. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Leonard Steele. She is survived by her sons, Ron Steele (Teresa) and Anthony Steele (Cindy); grandchildren, Melissa (Ryan), Michael, Michelle (Jason), and Cameron; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Payton, Carter, Addyson, Logan, and Lily; and great-great-granddaughter, Adley Grace. She is also survived by her siblings, Gene Johnson (Jareda), James Earl Johnson, and Rosa Coleman. The family will receive friends at visitation on Tuesday, January 28 beginning at 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 10:00 AM, at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN 38122.
