William E. Wood

William (Edward) Wood of Memphis, TN. died Monday, January 20, 2025, at home at age 85 surrounded by his loving wife Jann Wood and family. He was born August 14,1939 in Lodi, Mississippi. William was united in holy matrimony to Jann Carol Jenkins on March 25, 1972. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1960-1966 in Germany. After his military career, he further educated himself as an industrial mechanic while working for St. Joe Box and Container Company for many years. He retired with Shulton Old Spice Company. He was a member of Christian Life Church in Bartlett, Tn. William (Edward) was loved by all who knew him. He took special joy in reading and studying God's word, outreach/prison ministries, singing at the Senior Citizens Community Center in Bartlett, TN. golf, and sports. He wrote several songs. He loved sharing the message of Jesus Christ and what you must do to receive salvation according to Acts 2, 8, 10, and 19. William (Edward) will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years Jann Wood of Bartlett, TN.; sister, Ruby Pontarelli of Chicago, IL; sister, Shirley (Jim) Forrester of Memphis, TN.; brother, Charles (Susie) Wood of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Bobby (Diane) Tye of Oakland, TN.; sister, Angelina King of Mississippi; brother, Denim Tharpe of Mississippi. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
