Otia Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brent Taylor Funeral Directors on Jan. 30, 2025.
Otia Willie Williams passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025 at the age of 79. Family and close friends called Otia by his middle name, Willie, but later in life he claimed the name Otia.
Willie was born December 30, 1945 in Iuka, MS. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otia and Martha Idell Williams. Willie is survived by two sisters, Gladys M. Nichols of Memphis, TN and Brenda J. Sills of Collierville, TN, two nieces, Anita Ford and Tina Davidson (Danny) (great nephew Keegan), a nephew, Thomas Nichols (Julie).
Willie served with the Memphis Youth Corp in his late teens until his employment with MidWest Farms Dairy, where he worked for many years. He also worked for Biomedical Laboratory in Southaven until he went on disability. Willie suffered from Paranoid Schizophrenia for much of his adult life.
Willie enjoyed country music and playing his guitars, coin hunting, astronomy, and working on his 1965 Dodge. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed making things by hand and giving them to family members. Willie loved his cats and did not mind feeding the strays that came around. Willie loved his family and friends but preferred a solitary lifestyle. He did not attend a local church but listened to Christian radio, and he loved the Lord.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm Friday, January 31st followed by the funeral service at 2 pm at Brent Taylor Funeral Directors, 534 W Poplar Avenue, Collierville, TN 38017. Graveside services will be at 11 am on Saturday, February 1st at Mt. Moriah Church Cemetery in Iuka, MS.
Memorial contributions in memory of Willie may be sent to Tommy Mac Truckers Chapel, 21274 Choctaw, Kennett, MO 63857.
