Frances Humber Obituary

Frances Ocene Humber, 98, passed away in her home, with her daughter by her side, on February 8, 2025. She was born on August 22, 1926, in Paden, Mississippi, to Henry Vaden Belue and Essie Faye Belue, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her brother Justin Wade Belue and her sister Mona Vetress Presley. She also faced the heartbreaking loss of her son, Robert Edward Humber. Ocene grew up in Paden, Mississippi, where she graduated high school and later married the love of her life, Edward Thurman Humber, on August 6, 1945. They were married for 79 wonderful years until Edward's passing in January of this year. During their many years together, they traveled extensively across the United States, visiting every state except Hawaii. Ocene was a woman of many talents. She had a deep love for crocheting, arts and crafts, and baking, especially her homemade sourdough bread, which was known for being out of this world. She enjoyed playing card games, camping, and hiking, always eager to share her joy with those around her. A devout Christian, Ocene was a member of several churches throughout the years, including Memphis Baptist Temple, Reformed Baptist Church, Grace Bible Church, and Leawood Baptist Church. She loved supporting her church community in any way she could, whether through volunteering or simply offering a helping hand when needed. Family was the cornerstone of Ocene's life. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and the memories they created together will be cherished forever. Left behind with sweet memories of their time together are her daughter, Brenda (Ann) Humber Schultz (Earl); two granddaughters, Amy Nicole (Paul) and Lisa Marie (Jason); and four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Colin, Addison, and Kelsey. Ocene's legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed, but her memory will forever remain a blessing to her family and friends.
