James Hosey Obituary

James I. Hosey, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, February 9, 2025. At 80 years old, he had a lifetime of stories and experiences to share. Until the last week of his life, you could find him deep in projects around the house and in his workshop. He loved ancestry research, going to the movies, and any activity that involved being with family. He always provided stability, a voice of reason, and a physical helping hand for those who needed it. We rejoice that he is reunited in Heaven with his parents, James I. Hosey, Sr. and Anne Underwood Ciaramitaro, his stepfather, Anthony Ciaramitaro, as well as a host of others who visited him in his dreams before he left us here on Earth. Jim is survived by his wife and best friend of over 60 years, Nancy Hosey, as well as their daughter, Analice (Michael) Sowell and grandson, James Patrick. He additionally leaves behind his brother, Joe Hosey, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Jimmy. Visitation will be at Forest Hill Funeral Home East on Whitten Road from 12:30 pm to 2 pm on Monday, February 17, 2025, with the funeral service beginning at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Hill South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donating to the Client Assistance Program at the Memphis Speech and Hearing Center, housed at The University of Memphis. You can learn more about the Center here: https://www.memphis.edu/mshc/. Jim was profoundly hard of hearing from birth. Through the Center, he was fitted with hearing devices that allowed him to spend many wonderful years able to more fully enjoy life around him. On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students at the Memphis Speech and Hearing Center, it was an honor to have been able to work with Mr. Hosey and his family. We are further honored that his family thought to help patients who need additional financial support as a tribute in Mr. Hosey's memory. Our thoughts and sympathy are with Mr. Hosey's family and loved ones.
