Terry Copland

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Douglas Peter Copland of Munford, TN. He passed away at Baptist Memphis hospital on January 29, 2025 at the age of 79. Terry was born in Chicago on April 8, 1945 to Donald and Lilly Copland, and had 4 sisters (Annabelle, Virginia, Laurel, and Diana) and 1 brother (Donald.) He began his Navy career on August 5, 1963 and retired on February 28, 1983. He then began his second career at FedEx as a Senior Technical Trainer where he would celebrate his second retirement in 2010. In his younger years, Terry was an avid fisherman and a true weekend warrior. He spent his free time doing household DIY projects with his wife, Betty, and plotting light-hearted pranks with his best friend and brother-in-law, Casey Cody, to be played on his mother-in-law, Marion. In later years, he enjoyed going out to dinner, partaking in game nights with family and friends, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Terry leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Betty Copland; a sister Diana Schaefer; a son Cliff (Julie) Copland; 2 stepsons Jimmy (Shannon) Cleveland and Tommy Rodgers; stepdaughter Karen (Landon) King; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a long list of extended family and friends. Terry requested there be no formal funeral services and in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Tipton County Paws and Claws.
