William Fite Obituary

William Charles Fite of Germantown, TN entered into the presence of His Lord and Savior, Sunday, February 16, 2025 at age 25.

William was born March 19, 1999. He was our third child, and he completed our family with so much vitality and love. He was active in Troop 276 in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts through the ninth grade. He was homeschooled until attending Houston Middle School in the eighth grade. He graduated from Houston High School where he especially enjoyed being involved in the orchestra, Spanish Club and International Club. He began college at Mississippi State and completed his double majors of Dietetics and Spanish at the University of Memphis. He went on to receive his master's degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Memphis. He worked until the time of his death for WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), a government program that provides nutritional support for moms and children up to age 5. He was passionate about helping others.

William loved music and played multiple musical instruments. He composed original music, and he especially had fun playing for his nephew, Virgil. He enjoyed competing in basketball with his dad, and he spent several evenings watching the Tigers and the Grizzlies with his grandparents, HiDu and Behwa. Family and friends were very significant to William, and it was a real joy for him to spend time with the people he loved! He was known for his long, thoughtful, heartfelt notes that blessed his family and friends. He was the best friend to his beloved sister, Elizabeth, and he was an amazing uncle to his nephew, Virgil. He was always his mom's red-headed buddy. He had a wonderful sense of humor that will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful cook and baker – and he delighted in providing delicious food for others. Because of losing his beloved brother, John, by suicide, William was active in suicide prevention, and his thesis for his master's program was about considerations for suicide prevention in dietetics' practice. For the past year, William dedicated time to serve food to the men at Calvary Rescue Mission once a month. Some traveling highlights of his life included wonderful ski trips with the Priester clan, fun family road trips to the beach, Tucson, Boston, Washington, D.C., etc., fun trips with friends, and wonderful mission trips to Belize with Harvest Church youth. Most of all, William's life was characterized by service and love. He was a devoted, loving family member and friend. Serving others was a particular gift that he employed wherever he was. His huge heart was very evident in the way he loved others so well. Wherever William went, he left a legacy of LOVE.

William was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Jo Ann Fite, and his beloved brother, John Swink Fite.

William leaves his father and mother, Matt Fite and Shan Priester Fite; his sister, Elizabeth Marie Fite, and his precious nephew, Virgil Matthias Ukwu; his grandparents, Dr. Bill and Jean Priester; his uncle David Fite and his wife, Peggy, cousins Sophie Fite, Jessica Bryant Walker and Eric Moss; his uncle Dr. William Bradford Priester and his wife, Joanna Priester, and cousin Halle Priester Gross, her husband, Danny, and their precious daughter, Dorothy Louise.

Words cannot begin to express the loss we feel from William's homegoing. But we are comforted, above anything else, that William put his faith in Jesus, and Jesus never let him go.

Romans 8: 37 – 39

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

William was a cherished friend of my daughter, and they formed a deep bond as they processed their grief together following their loss of John, whom our daughter also cherished.
I had never had the pleasure of meeting either of your sons but I felt like I knew them because our daughter spoke of them so often.
She misses them both deeply and is keenly sorry for the suffering of your dear families, and so are we.

William was so beautiful and so dear to me. He helped me so much in my grief when we lost John. I am heartbroken. William and John will both be with me wherever I go for the rest of my life, and I will always cherish their family as one of my own. Thank you William for everything, you are so very loved.
