Bascom Carroll “Trey” Yager, III, age 48, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and husband of Courtney Tucker Yager, departed this life Thursday, April 3, 2025 at his residence.
Trey was born October 18, 1976 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Marilyn Harvey Yager and the late Bascom Carroll “Bud” Yager, Jr. He graduated from Fayette-Ware High School in Somerville in 1995 and continued his education at State Tech, now Southwest Tennessee Community College, in Memphis. He was self-employed as a tile setter for 21 years and was in the construction industry for three years.
Trey was married June 24, 2008 to Courtney Tucker Yager and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Moscow. He was a handyman who was a “jack of all trades” and will be remembered for his frugalness. He was an outdoorsman with a great sense of humor who loved telling jokes and was a generous man who would help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family and will be remembered for being a loving and devoted family man.
Trey is survived by his wife, Courtney Tucker Yager; two sons, Samuel Tucker Yager and Thomas Mitchell Yager, both of Moscow, TN; his mother, Marilyn Yager of Moscow, TN; two sisters, Amy Yager Jones (Dean) of Batesville, MS and Melissa “Lisa” Yager Mansour (Nader) of Oakland, TN; and multiple pets that included “Copper” who stayed by Courtney’s side. He also left his daughter, Adalynn Starr Yager, who passed away shortly after Trey.
Funeral Services for Trey were held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Bobby Williams, pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Moscow, officiating. Interment followed in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Moscow.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jeff Richardson, Scotty Turner, Aydan Manus, Bryan McClure, Jason Yager and Rich Yager. Honorary pallbearers included Chris Yager and Willie Jones.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Arthritis Foundation, 1355 Peachtree Street NE, Suite 600, Atlanta, GA 30309.
