William Loeb, Obituary

William "Bill" Louis Loeb, III, first of nine children, was born June 21, 1952, to Marie "Mimi" Shea Loeb and William "Bill" Louis Loeb, Jr., in Memphis, TN on his parent's one-year wedding anniversary. Bill passed away on June 29, 2025, in Horseshoe Bend, AR.

Bill attended St. Dominic's School and then East High School. He shared his zest for life and daring spirit, voted Most Popular multiple times and earning the title Mr. Athletic in senior high. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1970.

His adventures continued through his college years and via travels across the country to favorite locales such as Santa Fe, parts of Minnesota and Washington, D.C., among countless others. Bill returned to Memphis, but the quieter country eventually called him to Horseshoe Bend. There he became more solitary, working with his hands to tinker and create pieces – from wooden bird houses to elegantly crafted engraved pens. He enjoyed doting on his nieces and nephews with gifts and letters.

In addition to family and his many friends, Bill loved God and was a devout follower of Christ. A faithful servant to the end, he endured hardships throughout his life, but he never lost his faith. As Paul the apostle wrote and Bill might have said himself: "I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7)

Bill leaves his siblings Louis Loeb (Daiquirie), Bob Loeb (Mary), Mimsy Conaway (Alex) and Gee Sharp (Gene), all of Memphis; Mandy Loeb, Santa Cruz, CA; Fran Eikenberg, Dallas, TX; and Meg Bishop, Bainbridge Island, WA. He also leaves his 18 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister Edie Loeb, San Diego, CA, and his parents Mimi and Bill Loeb.

Bill's family will celebrate his abundant life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Church Health Center at churchhealth.org.

Bill, I know you are finally at peace and exactly where you belong . You were the best looking one of all the 9. You were a good soul. You were always a fisher of men , spreading Christ along your journey . I know Aunt Maggie has been waiting to see you . Many memories ... such a humble spirit ... you are with your folks and the Lord .... As you always said " Life is a trip" .... Just so glad peace will be with you every day . Dawna Divine . That was the perfect scripture verse in your obituary ....

Bill was a nice guy...had a generous heart and was thoughtful of others. Only spoke to his once after high school years, but remember a kindness about him during his time at East High.

Deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
