Hurst, E. Joyce
WATERFORD - E. Joyce Hurst, 85, formerly of Washington Ave. passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Van Rensselaer Manor, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Cunningham Miorin. She was a 1957 graduate of Catholic Central High School.
With her husband, Joyce had owned and operated Batto's Liquor Store in Waterford. After graduating high school, she worked for the N.Y. Telephone Co., and later at the Saratoga County Treasurer's Office.
Joyce was a past President of the Mother's Club at St. Mary's School, and a member of the Waterford Republican Club and Saratoga County Women's Republican Club.
She enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean with her husband, spending time with family, reading and sewing.
Joyce was the widow of the late Richard "Dick" Hurst, who died in 2017. She is the loving mother of Laurie Huneau (Ed) and Lisa McInerney (late Paul) of Waterford. She is the sister of June Sanderson (late Robert) of Melrose, William Miorin (Becky) of Scotia, John Miorin of Albany, Jane Bernacki (late Mike) of Waterford, Susan Bowen (James) of Saratoga Springs, Sharon Sheehan (late Mark) of Waterford and the late Barbara Plummer (late Kermit). She is the proud grandmother of Jeremy Huneau (Amy), Derek Huneau (Nicole), Jenna Huneau (Derek Bell), Lauren Pells, Gabrielle McInerney and Mickellen McInerney; and great-grandmother of Ben, Julia, Joseph, Matthew, Jaxson and Carter. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at noon, at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Rte. 32, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. – noon, prior to the funeral service.
