Michael Kuehl Obituary
Michael Kuehl passed away on August 17. He was born on February 14, 1961 in St. Louis, MO.
Mike graduated from Memphis Catholic High School in 1979 and went on to study at Memphis State University. Embracing each opportunity as a new adventure, Mike worked a variety of jobs, including as a district manager for Waffle House where he oversaw the day to day operations for multiple Waffle House locations along the Gulf Coast. Mike's ability to lead and serve with compassion, charisma, and humor fostered relationships that transformed his employees and customers into loyal supporters and friends.
He also worked as a manager and Vacation Sales Ambassador for Hilton Grand Vacations located within the Bass Pro Shops at the Memphis Pyramid. Mike greeted everyone (including President Jimmy Carter) with his warm smile, and he loved taking family and friends to the top of the Pyramid. Mike's favorite part of working in a highly trafficked area such as the Pyramid was the number of opportunities he had each day to laugh and joke with customers.
Mike is remembered as an inquisitive, thoughtful conversationalist, who listened with enthusiastic, genuine interest to others. Mike never met a stranger and always looked for ways to brighten up the other person's day. Those who love Mike will remember his joy for life, the way he made everyone feel special, and the spark in his eyes that preceded a spontaneous act of generosity that he was sure would make you smile. Mike had a deeply spiritual sense and found God in friendship with those around him and in the Eucharist.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, George Justin and Eileen M. Kuehl, and his brother George Joseph Kuehl (Diane). Mike is survived by his children Brennan Kuehl and Keleigh Bostick (Michael), for whom he overflowed with pride; his ex-wife Traci Sass Kuehl, to whom he was married for 28 years and remained lifelong best friends; his siblings Mary Sudduth(Sam), Charles (Elizabeth), Gregory (Stefanie), and Kathleen Robertson(Gary); and by many nieces and nephews.
The visitation and Mass will be at the Catholic Church of the Nativity 5955 St Elmo Rd., Bartlett, TN. Visitation 8/26 5:00p - 7:00p with Rosary at 7:00. Mass of Christian Burial 8/27 10:00a with graveside service and burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery 5688 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN.
