Virginia Kilmer Obituary
Amherst, MA - Amherst, MA-Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cherished friend passed away on August 27 with her family by her side. She was also surrounded by the love and care of additional family members and friends both near and far.
Virginia (Ginny) was born on May 21, 1935, to Pearl and Curtis Large in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in Detroit and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. It was while she was studying at U. of M. that she met her future and beloved husband, William L. Kilmer who was pursuing his PHD there. After several moves across the country, they settled in their final hometown of Amherst in 1971 with their four daughters.
Ginny was much loved by many and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her three daughters, Janice Kilmer, Patti Cranton and Cindy Skhiri and her five grandchildren. Ginny was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2017 and by daughter Ellen in 2014.
An open memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church on Friday, Oct 31 at 2pm.
