Julie Bishop Obituary

Julie Neuber Bishop

Sunapee, NH - Julie Neuber Bishop passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025 at Woodcrest Village Assisted Living in New London, NH. She was 71.

Born in New York City to Richard and Jean Neuber, Julie grew up in Niskayuna, NY, alongside her siblings Stewart, Sally (Kelly), and Chris. She graduated from Niskayuna High School in 1972, from St. Lawrence University in 1976, and received a Masters degree from Harvard in 1980.

Julie began her career in Admissions at Siena College, where she met her husband, Kirk Bishop. They married in 1980 and shared 45 wonderful years together, making homes in Loudonville, NY; Reading, MA; Wenham, MA; and ultimately Sunapee, NH.

Their twins, Drew Bishop Tamm and Kyle Bishop, were born in 1987, and their daughter Dale followed in 1990. Julie found great joy and pride in her children and their spouses-Christopher "Critter" Tamm, Brooke Bishop, and Michael Stockert-and her dream of becoming a grandmother came true with the arrivals of Hadley Bishop Stockert, Claire "Cece" Carter Tamm, Knox Palmer Bishop, and Mia Julie Stockert.

A devoted mother, wife, and sister, Julie also built an extraordinary career in education and the nonprofit world. She contributed her gifts to the Wenham Museum and S.A.F.E. Studio in Ipswich, MA, and ultimately served as Vice President of Philanthropy at the Essex County Community Foundation. Her work touched countless lives and strengthened the communities she cherished.

Julie was a force. She lit up every room she entered, commanded any dance floor she stepped onto, and understood deeply what it meant to be a true friend. Julie advocated fiercely for her family, friends, and community. Curious and adventurous, she loved to travel, ski, dine, and experience everything the world had to offer. She had an uncanny ability to host with ease and so many friends felt as comfortable in her kitchen as in their own. Sharp, funny, warm, and generous, Julie formed lasting connections wherever she went. She lived fully, and she will be profoundly and immeasurably missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lake Sunapee Protective Association, the Lake Sunapee Regional Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice, or the Essex County Community Foundation.

I´m so sorry to hear this. Julie and I raised our kids together (all the Bishops!) thru soccer and baseball and Cutler School. She was a gem.

I am the Board Chair at the John Hay Estate at the Fells. I did not know Julie, but her obituary clearly shows she was a wonderful person. Julie served on our board some years ago. All of us who are or were involved in any capacity with the John Hay Estate at the Fells are a family. When one of us hurts, we all feel the pain. Please accept the deep condolences of our Board of Directors and the entire organization.

When I first joined the ECCF board, Julie was the person I trusted most for advice and commentary on how things work. She was a great friend. I missed her when she retired - - and even more now. . .
