Athol, MA - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vergial (Verg) Ross Allen, 70 of Athol, Massachusetts. Verg passed away peacefully on December 25th 2025 surrounded by his beloved wife and other family members at Umass Memorial following a long term illness.

Vergial was born in Northumberland, New Hampshire on May 1, 1955. The son of the late Geraldine and Vergial Ralph Allen, Verg was predeceased by his step father Buster Ashe, brother Lloyd Allen, his sister Irma (Midge) Robinson and his son Shawn Allen.

Verg is survived by his wife of 43 years Barbara (King) Allen of Athol, his sister Tina (Ashe) Semler of Athol. He also leaves his sister in-laws and brother in-law and their children, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, great nieces and nephews along with great great nieces and nephews.

Verg worked at the former Mohawk Wire and Cable of Leominster for over 20 years. He was also a guitarist for the former local band the Country Night Stalkers. Verg enjoyed playing bingo and had multiple Bingo friends that he made along the way. He also enjoyed his Dunkin Donuts coffee and had many friends there as well. He was known for wearing a cowboy hat, loving cartoons, the Three Stooges, country music, joking with family to keep them laughing constantly and taking trips to the casino with his wife. Most of all Verg enjoyed playing guitar, playing poker, cracking jokes, and forever teasing his wife and family members to get a rise out of them. He was a constant comedian.

He will be missed by so many.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the Spring.
