Greenfield, MA - Norma Canon, 59, passed away on December 5, 2025, after a multi-year battle with breast cancer, which she faced bravely and with grace and dignity.

The daughter of Sally (Lindell) Randall, and the late Ray Lindell, she was born in Greenfield (MA) and remained there throughout her life.

Norma graduated from Greenfield High School in 1984. She earned her Associate Degree in Management with honors from Greenfield Community College in 1986 and proceeded to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Management (Cum Laude) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Management in 1990.

While at both colleges, she worked in the cash office at Food Mart in Greenfield. Upon graduation from UMASS, she was hired at Judd Wire in Turners Falls, MA as a Purchasing Agent. A tireless achiever, she excelled there, and over a 32-year career was promoted to Purchasing Manager, and ultimately to Materials Manager. Sadly, she left her career at Judd Wire due to her cancer diagnosis.

Norma had an infectious positive attitude, sparkling personality and beautiful smile that affected all who knew her. These traits guided her through her own cancer journey, as well as her 2008 diagnosis and ongoing battle with Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome (APS). She fought cancer on several fronts: helping her younger sister battle Hodgkins Disease (of which she was cured); and her own battle, which was fought with amazing inner strength and determination, earning her the nickname "Warrior"

by her family. She was team leader for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Team "Waves of Emotion" for many years prior to her own diagnosis.

Norma was an avid Patriots fan thanks to the influence of her Mother-in-Law Phyllis. Norma would watch the games each week and attended a few of them at Gillette Stadium. She would buy Phyllis Patriots gear for Christmas and often times Phyllis would have purchased the same item for her!! The Patriots were part of the family.

Norma loved Maine, and vacationed there with her husband, John, for many years, and traveled with John and her in-laws extensively. Norma and John started an air hockey rivalry several years ago. Taking the opportunity to play a few games at arcades and hotel game rooms. Norma was fiercely competitive and always wanted to win the game but didn't like it when John let her win!! She started shooting hoops in the arcade in Maine a few times and was really impressive with swooshing the shots. Plus, she always shared that she was super competitive during street hockey games in high school!!

Norma is survived by her husband of 34 years, John, her Mother, Sally Randall of Greenfield, her sister, Nancy Ambo (Eddie) of Gill, MA, her sister, Janet Randall-Parda of Turners Falls, MA, her mother-in-law Phyllis Canon of Greenfield, her Uncle, Ronald Peters (Barbara) of Erving, MA, her Uncle Warren Peters (Jeannie) of Durham, North Carolina, an Uncle Richard Lindell of Connecticut and cousins Sarah, Hannah, Julie and Tiffany. She was predeceased by her father, Ray Lindell, her step-father David "Charlie" Randall, her father-in-law, William Canon of Greenfield and her Uncle Walter Lindell of Hingham, MA.

Norma's family would like to extend their gratitude to the Nurses in the Cancer Center for taking such wonderful care of her during her treatments. Their kindness, compassion, laughter and stories made the experience a bit lighter. In addition, Taryn (3rd floor Nursing Station), showed amazing calmness, care, compassion and empathy during her last few days with us.

Norma was treated at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Cooley Dickinson Hospital and the Mass General Cancer Institute at Cooley Dickinson Hospital to fund the purchase of a new blanket warmer for patient care.
