William Kerby Obituary

William Kerby

Goshen, MA - Bill Kerby was born in West Virginia on February 16th, 1947 to Robert and Janette Kerby. He had 5 siblings, Bob, Doris, Pat, Brenda and Jack whom he loved immensely his entire life. Bill was drafted straight out of high school, where he was placed in army intelligence in Munich Germany. When he returned he spent a brief time in his hometown of Norton, OH before heading North to make a home for himself in MA, there he made lasting friendships, had wild times, became a carpenter and met his wife Kathleen, they married in Autumn and had their only child Vanessa in the Spring. Later in life Bill moved to the land of Goshen to live in a cabin with his daughter and her husband Robert. Bill loved the hilltowns, writing pros and stories eventually becoming a state recognized ceramic sculptor. Bill had the ability to make just about anyone smile, he could tell a joke like no other and was always ready to listen when you needed someone. In November of 2025 Bill moved on to a new form of existence reuniting with his beloved wife Kathleen.

The lasting advice Bill would give as a reminder to us all is a simple quote from author Tom Robins: "It is never too late to have a happy childhood".

I worked with Bill about 45 years ago, doing landscaping with Jergen, the legendary Teutonic gardener. Just the other day I was on the verge of looking him up,, but...Rarely have I looked forward to going to work as I did when hanging and kicking' it with Bill. If I started in on anecdotes I'd never stop, so I won't. I loved you, Brother Bill. Your WVa timing in telling a joke or spinning a yarn was incomparable.
