Virginia Baird Obituary

Virginia A. Baird

Greenfield, MA - Virginia A. (Dauphinais) Baird, 80, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

Born in Montague on March 10, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Rivet) Dauphinais. Virginia graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1962 and went on to marry the love of her life, James E. Baird, June 27,1964. Together they shared 64 years of marriage built on devotion, faith, and family.

Virginia worked for many years as a secretary for Cohn and Company, retiring in 2004. In addition to her professional career, she proudly helped operate the family business, Baird Ceiling, alongside her husband. While raising her family, Virginia made the decision to return to school-an accomplishment she held close to her heart. She completed EMT coursework and later graduated from Greenfield Community College as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, one of her proudest achievements.

A talented seamstress and quilter, Virginia expressed her love through her creations. She lovingly made American Girl doll outfits and crafted beautiful quilts for each member of her immediate family to treasure for years to come. Her famous holiday cookies became a cherished tradition, bringing family together year after year to bake, decorate, and celebrate.

A devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church, her faith was unwavering and guided her throughout her life. Above all, Virginia cherished her family. She found immense joy in watching her grandchildren grow, especially cheering them on at their sporting events.

Virginia leaves behind her beloved husband, James E. Baird; her children, Kristina Bouchard, James D., and Jeff Baird and his wife Wendy. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Camden, Brody, Kelly, Amelia, and Asa, who were her greatest accomplishments and deepest joy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and her in-laws Kathy Lapointe, Patty Dion, and Janice Tanyuk.

In addition to her parents and siblings, Virginia was predeceased by her daughter, Kelly Ann, in 1979, and her sisters-in-law, Noreen Bogusz and Geri Zabko.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish/Blessed Sacrament Church, 221 Federal Street. Burial will follow in Green River Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.

Virginia will be remembered for her steady faith, quiet strength, generous heart, and the deep love she held for her family.
