Frederick Rowe, Jr.

Naples, FL - Frederick ("Fred") Dennis Rowe, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by leadership, love of athletics, and a deep commitment to his family.

Fred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne Rowe (née Warren); his brothers, John Rowe of Dover, DE, Daniel Rowe (Cheryl) of Springfield, MA, and Roger Rowe of Richland, MI; and his sister, Kathleen Rowe of Frederica, DE; Brothers-in-law, William Warren (Veronica) of Athol, MA and John Warren (Sally) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was the devoted father of Fred Rowe III (Leanne) of Naples, FL, Daniel Rowe (Melanie) of Harwich Port, MA, and Michael Rowe (Adrienne) of Scituate, MA. He was the cherished "Grampa" to Meredith, Nathaniel, Alexandra, Ryan, and Trent Rowe, and Ambra Barnett (Rian). He also leaves behind a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fred is predeceased by his brother, Richard Rowe of Enfield, CT and his parents Frederick D. Rowe Sr. and Jeanne A. Rowe of Lighthouse Point, FL.

Born on July 3, 1940, in Springfield, VT, to Jeanne A. Rowe (née Hause) and Frederick Dennis Rowe Sr., Fred grew up in Orange, MA. A natural athlete and leader from a young age, he was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Lawrence Academy in 1959. There, he was a three-sport standout in football, basketball, and baseball, serving as captain of the football team and setting the stage for a lifetime of excellence.

Fred continued his academic and athletic journey at Northeastern University, graduating in 1965. As a student-athlete, he played tailback on the 1963 undefeated football team, a feat that later earned his team a place in the Northeastern University Athletic Hall of Fame. As a freshman, he was introduced to Jeanne Warren, who quickly became the center of his universe; they married on November 23, 1963.

Despite his many accolades, Fred remained humble and approachable-an engaging conversationalist who was always more interested in the stories of others than his own. In his professional life, Fred was a dedicated leader in retirement services. He began his career with MassMutual in 1968 before purchasing Pension Planners Inc. in Naples, FL, in 1988. He was also an active member of the Naples North Rotary.

When he wasn't working, Fred was often found coaching his sons, playing softball or touch football, sailing his Hobie catamaran or serving as an elected official on the Longmeadow, MA, Park Commission. During his tenure, he and his fellow commissioners played an instrumental role in the visionary purchase of farmland that became the "Wolf Swamp Athletic Fields." Seeing those fields filled with young athletes for the past 49 years was a source of tremendous pride for Fred, reflecting his belief in the importance of recreation and community space.

Above all, Fred was a family man. He lived a life of balance, ensuring his career and civic duties never overshadowed his devotion to those he loved. He taught his children and grandchildren the values of hard work and integrity-not through words alone, but through the way he lived every day. Fred's warmth, humor, legendary stories, and generosity will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
