Been thinking about Andrew a lot lately. Had a conversation with Nic G a while back about waking up everyday and living a life worthy of the one you gave for us all those years ago. Started telling my son about you and showing him pictures of what real heroes look like and the lives they led. He asked a ton of questions about you and it made me extremely proud of to tell him about one of my heroes. Sabater and I met up a while back and finally made the trip to come see Andrew and it felt great. It was a beautiful hot sunny day with tons of shade from the tall mature trees that surround him. As Sabater and I walked up a young lady was leaving and come to find out she was a classmate of yours. This didnt surprise us at all that so many people still had that connection with him and are keeping his memory alive. Ill never forget some of the last words he shared with me, as we paused for a break in the action when he came over to share a bite to eat with Sunny and I. Lopez, Sunny tells me youre doing a great job out here. Keep it up, stay hard stay focused and dont give em an inch. It felt great to hear that from him. To get that affirmation, that approval from someone I will always admire and never forget. RIP brother.

To My Beloved Son Andrew.

Already been eleven years. You went home with Jesus. Not a day goes by without thinking of you. I love you and miss you and my heart is still empty without you. I know I will see you one day. On Veterans Day we honored your sacrifice and all the other men and women who served. I am so proud to have a son like you. Your Marine friends Kyle and Teresa came all the way from San Diego to be with us when I received the Honor and Remember Flag on Veterans Day. All your friends and family still meet with me every year to remember you.

Love you forever, Mom.

2015 Memorial Day ceremony at Lawton House was the third year in a row, the Lawton House of Oviedo has hosted an event to honor those who have fought and died for our freedom. Creator of the event Jim Vanderbleek built more than 390 crosses - one for every military member from Florida who died while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan - that was set up by volunteers across the grounds. Each cross holds a wreath created by 18-year-old Conner MacFarlane and refurbished by his 15-year-old sister Chloe. One of the crosses is in honor of their father, who died in Afghanistan in 2012.

Some are your Marine buddies who have never forgotten you, some like Ryan and Jenny will carry the scars of your loss the rest of their lives. I just wanted you to know that you are being though of on this Memorial weekend. The are no words that can be expressed, but to thank you for what you have done for your country.
My wish for this Memorial Day weekend is that every American would take just one or two minutes and say a prayer for out Military. My grandson was a Marine with the 3/1 Marines. I am so proud of him and he taught me more about life than anyone ever has
HEROES NEVER DIE. THEY LIVE IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER.
I truly do believe this.
I know I haven't posted here before, but a Marine that I admire very much, Chris Abrue, posted a plaque on his facebook. I copied the names down to add to my list of people I like to write a little something to on holidays.
