We wanted to let your family and friends know that we are sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Charles Allen Hanson Jr. US Marine Lance Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

I never was able to meet you, but as I hear stories from mrs. Dana& mrs. Shyia I feel like I know a little part of you! All the wonderful stories to pictures that I get to see fill my heart with sadness and happiness all at once.. Sadness because you were obviously taken from this earth way to soon but happiness because I know my son has you, his Uncle as his guardian angel! I was blessed to be able to become apart of your family and will forever be grateful for the sacrifices you made for this country! Bro, you were a great Marine and more so a great Guy! I miss you man and it hurt me so much to have heard of your passing. We fought side by side in Nasiriyah, and to this day I regret leaving the corps the way I did. I should have been there with you man! I pray that we are reunited one day. I pray for your family too... I pray that they are comforted and given the strength they need to move forward. God bless all of you!

This year has been one of the hardest. Going through your all your letters home your clothes all your fishing and hunting stuff god it breaks my heart. I served with Charles in iraq, I was in bravo co 1/2 with him. the thing I remember most about him was his smile, it could light up any room he had a big heart and served with honor, I am proud to say I had served with him and I live erveryday in honor of him and the other marines we lost in bravo co. There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I just came across this website.....over a year later the saddness still lingers with me all the time. JR. was the bravest man I had ever met and I love and miss him dearly. Jr was a good person with a big heart. I got to know Jr as he was finishing high school and spent a lot of time at my house working on schoolwork with my daughter Caron. Jr was always pleasant, respectful, and you could see the pride he had when he talked about going into the service. Caron, Shayne and I are all saddened by this loss.

I only had the opportunity of meeting Junior once at church. My Mom spoke of him all the time. I'm saddened of the news and for our loss, God bless and take care.

The First time I met Junior he had a big old fish story to tell. I guess there was a whooper just off flat rock that he really wanted. His Grand Pa Bill drove the shuttle van, so he was well known. That year we were blessed to be able to camp many weekends. We always camped close to the Burns, Hanners, and Bill and his wife Betty .
Junior was the focal point of our little camping communitee. He was the guy the old guys talked about, and the guy us middle aged guys wished we were. He would get up early, fish and play all day and go to bed late. All the little girls chased after him but he had no time for them as he and his Grandpa Bill had fish to catch, and trails to ride. He gave that ole Polaris a ruff summer but it served with a lot of Band-Aids and duck tape.
Oh what a great summer that was.
Time has past. Bill is no longer with us.
Junior grew up and joined the Marines to protect us. I’m sad to have to tell you that Lance Cpl. Charles A. Hanson Jr. 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force Died due to enemy action in Babil Province, Iraq, on November 28, 2004.
Rest in peace my little buddy. Thank you for protecting us. We will not forget
By the way he did catch that big fish!
