Curtis Wooten Obituary

SPANAWAY, Wash. - Pfc. Curtis L. “Tre” Wooten III, 20, Spanaway, Wash., was killed Jan. 4, 2005, in Balad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle. Mr. Wooten was born April 18, 1984, at Fort Riley. He is the son of Curtis Wooten, of Junction City. Mr. Wooten graduated from Spanaway Lake High School and joined the Army in August of 2002. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany. To leave a special message for the family, visit www.penwellgabel.com .

I served with Black in Germany and was stationed on Palowada with him during our year in Iraq. He was always dancing or teach me how to dance and he was so funny. We both had fun while in Live Wire and hitting the clubs near Schwienfurt and what not. I miss the times we had and I think about it a lot, even my wife is a runner and runs for him in a program call Run Blue to Remember in numerous marathons. In fact she will be running for him this year in the Army 10 miler in Pentagon City. Either way we miss bruh, keep dancing I´ll join on the floor when my time comes.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Back at Spanaway Lake High School, i knew i could always rely on Curtis's friendly face and warm Hello's. We never passed each other by in the hall without a hug and a hi. Curtis probably wouldn't even remember me. Maybe he would. We went to Thompson Elementary together. I have thought about him quite often since I heard he had died. I remember when he first came to thompson, my sister and I kept fighting over him. We thought he was the hottest boy we had ever seen. LOL. I think he was actually my "boyfriend" for a few days. I have only just begun this journey and may not have known your loved one personally.

I extend to you my deepest condolences. No words will ever express the grief those close to this lost treasure are feeling. I can only say that I can share this grief as I too lost a loved one July 8, 2006. I will continue to pray for the safety of our soldiers and especially the family and friends of our lost hero’s. To the wooten family, Know that ur son was a great soldier and a good friend. He touched the hearts of alot of soldiers. I was a good friend who served with curtis and I don't go a day without thinking of him. he was like a brother to me and I learned alot from him as well as him from me. I just ask that ya'll stay strong and I know I am far from ya'll but i will make it there on to visit and pay respect to a fallen brother. I am still in his former unit and everyone still sit around and tell rmemberence stories about him.I don't know if he told u about his daughter but she looks just like him. Hopefully u will see her. This is the one and only Mcqueen AKA-Shotta from the Caribbean Connection, Live Wire Entertainment Family. A few words and thoughts about the colonel Wooten, we met in 2002 and from then we became real close like a blood brother, he was my neighbour and i was always there for him when he needed.. Curtis was filled with energy and motivation, he always had a dream about the Live Wire family comming together as one big happy family and it is breaks my heart that he is not here physically wih us to see this happen, but i know as well as all the family that he is with us in spirit and soul.. Curtis was a poet in his own style he showed this through dancing and he dance like no one was watching and he had such a style to it, that we are all amazed the things he could do.
