Hi my name is Miguel Daniel and I'm from Houston, TX . I had the pleasure of meeting Lcpl. Payne while in the Marine Corps. I meet him in about May of 2000 when I got to Camp Pendleton. I just want to express my condonlences to the family and friends of Payne. He was a great person all around. I will keep him and his family in prayers. Rest in peace brother. Semper Fi!

August 17, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

May 17, 2006

to those whom may read this I am a soldier who is proud to say that I served with Sgt Payne in Iraq I didn't know him well until we got to Kewait as I was assigned to the "Fo Nasty" weeks prior to the deployment but Sgt Payne was a good fried of mine. when times got tough there he was with a smile on his face and a kind word for you. When asked when he wanted to go home on leave he replied "I'll go home when my mission is completed." he cared about his soldiers, and put us in front of himself he was a true soldier. His mission was cut short but he died doing somthing he blieved strongly in. this year when the anniversary of that horrible event came around we gathered around his plaque and had a moment of silence. We are getting ready to head back to Iraq for a second time and I know that a lot of us are taking some of Sgt Payne back with us, he taught me more than I taught him and for that I owe him a lot. in short thanks Sgt Payne there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of him and miss him, he's the only soldier I've ever shed a tear for.

March 28, 2006

Words can not express the deep sorrow that I feel for Sergeant Payne. As a Marine I was trained to give the ultimate sacrifice for my country, yet it was never demanded of me. However when I see those who have given all for the freedoms that we so often take for granted, I'm so grateful for their committment, but I'm heartbroken for their sacrifice. May God receive Sergeant Payne with a sharp salute, and open arms. Semper Fi.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Payne family in the loss of Rocky. I did not know Rocky, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. Rocky on the 16th of this month it will be a year since you were taken. You are a hero and you will never be forgotten.

I send each of you a hug from the most inner part of my heart.

Dear Payne Family,

I happened to open the Salt Lake Tribune's Online edition from the U.S. Consulate in Lahore, Pakistan and noticed a picture of Ricky, my high school classmate, with your family at Rocky's funeral service. Like many have written, I am sure that our words of gratitude can not really temper your grief at the loss of your brave son. May God bless you in this difficult time and please accept our sincere gratitude for his and your ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

I read the article in today's Tribune about your son,Rocky, and of your first Gold Star observance. This Memorial Day was also our first as a Gold Star family. As we have just experienced, no words are adequate to express our deep and heartfelt condolences over the loss of your dear son. May the Lord bless you and comfort you in the days and years ahead as you struggle to cope with your loss. Though we didn't know your son, we know of the stuff of which your son was made. Our prayers go out to you and your family.

Sincerely,

As Rocky's high school buddy I feel compelled to write a few words about him. He was a great man and great friend. He was always there to cheer me up when times got rough. I remember his practical jokes and his smile the most. He would always sit next to me on the bus to Bridgerland and we would joke or talk about fixing cars and trucks. I am honored to know that he represented us in Iraq. There couldn't have been a better person to do it. He made the ultimate sacrifice for me and our country and for that I have been telling all of my friends and family all of the experiences I had with him. His memory will live on, it's the least I can do. I remember his quiet voice and his silly attitude. What a great guy....

To my friend Rocky, I hope to see you agian someday.

To whoever reads this: I did not know Rocky well. He was a couple years younger than I in high school. I did associate with his older brother Russel during my class activities.

The freedom I enjoy, today, is a bit richer and more meaningfull because of Rocky.

Years ago, in high school, he was a kid I saw every now and then in the hall. Maybe had football practice with. Maybe talked with a couple of times. Today and forever into the future he is one of my heros and will always hold a special place in my heart.

-Untill we meet again Rocky. Brian.

Dear Dennis and Marie,

It's been many years since we lived in Howell (1987-88) but we remember your family well. Our son, Richard, informed us of Rocky's death last week and we wish to express our condolences to your family. We have fond memories of living in Howell where our boys played baseball and went to school with Rocky and all the others. Or other son, John, is presently serving in the Navy aboard the USS Nimitz and is presently preparing for a second deployment to Iraq so we can relate with you in this way. Our prayers are with your family. We are grateful for the sacrifices being made by our military personnel--it is not a lost cause. May God bless you all.

March 23, 2005

Words cannot express the gratitude to you and your son, brother, for all your sacrifice for all of us. I pray that Heavenly Father will help you have the comfort you so deserve. Someday when my time comes to go on to the other side, I will put my arms around him and kiss his cheek, and tell him that we all love him so much for all he has done for so many around the world, his brothers and sisters. You must be so proud, so full of sorrow, but so proud. Bless you all.
