Terrance Lee Obituary

Sgt. Terrance Delan Lee, Sr.

, age 25, a native of Moss Point, MS, died Saturday, June 11, 2005 in Amiriyah, Iraq, a little dot on the map just a speck away from a larger dot known as Baghdad. Hungry with a desire to travel and experience more of the world and its people, Terrance felt the military could offer him such an opportunity and entered the Navy for a short time and then joined the National Guard's 155th Armor Brigade Combat Team, known as "Dixie Thunder," in 2003. Terrance once told his Mom and "Granmama", "I can be killed walking on the streets of Moss Point just as easily, and if I were to die in Iraq, I will be fighting for my country and doing what I feel is right." On Friday, June 24, 2005, a grateful country will present to his family the Purple Heart, given for wounds received in hostile action, and the Bronze Star, given for meritorious service. Sergeant Terrance Lee's duty performance and selfless service were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, the Multi-National Corps Iraq, and the United States Army. He gave the ultimate sacrifice.

He will join in heaven his maternal great-grandmother, Annie Beaulah Colvin; paternal great grandparents, Jacob and Ruby Royster and Napoleon and Willie Pearl Lee; his uncle, Jeffrey Triplett and grandparents-in-law, Joseph and Ella Carter.

Terrance Delan Lee, Sr. has been taken from those he loved and who loved him. He is now a fallen American hero. His life, though short, was rich and meaningful. He will become a legend to his children. His life will inspire us all to be better human beings.

Memories of Terrance will, forever, be treasured by his loving wife, Stephanie Carter Lee of Lucedale, MS; two sons, Terrance Lee, Jr. and Ra'Mone Lee of Moss Point, MS; an unborn daughter, Marchelle Elyse Lee; a step-daughter, Kamri Carter of Lucedale; his mother, Dinah Lee of Moss Point; his father, Dedric Lee of Gautier, MS; one brother, LaDarrius Lee of Moss Point; one sister, Demetrice (Christopher) Jones of Pascagoula, MS; devoted and dedicated paternal grandparents, who raised him since he was six months old, Robert and Aniece Lee of Moss Point; his maternal grandparents, Abraham and Leona Triplett of Moss Point; two aunts, Carola Triplett and Omeco Triplett of Moss Point; three uncles, Ryan (Kimberly) Triplett and Anthony (Shannon) Triplett of Moss Point, and Douglas (Cynthia) Lee of Ocean Springs, MS; a nephew, Christopher Jones of Pascagoula, MS; mother and father-in-law, Stanley and Frances Sargent of Lucedale; one brother-in-law, Tregnal (Claudette) Thomas of Moss Point; special friends and cousins, Elmore Wonsley, Sean Coleman, Jerone Rowe, Chris Walker, Tremayne Colvin and a host of many other family and friends.

The body of Sgt. Terrance Lee will arrive at 4PM Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Solomon Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, 4313 Ely Ave, Moss Point, MS, where he will be met by his honor guard from the United States Army National Guard and members of his family. He will lie in state at the church until 6PM. Visitation will be at the church from 6-9PM.

Funeral services will be at 11AM Friday, June 24, 2005 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 4600 Main St., Moss Point where Rev. James O. Harris is pastor. Rev. James E. Powell, Sr., pastor of Solomon Temple A.M.E. Zion Church, will be officiating. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 9AM. Burial will follow at Macphelah Cemetery in Pascagoula, MS, where he will receive full military honors.

Donations can be made to the Terrance Lee Memorial Fund at any Navigator Credit Union for the education of his children.

Care of my husband is entrusted only to the professionalism of MARSHALL FUNERAL HOME.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Terrance, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ: Just wanted to say to the family of Sgt. Lee although we may all miss him God had need of him in His army. And i just do believe that he is holding up the blood stain banner for our Lord. I know Terrance knew the Lord because we talked for hours at a time about his goodness and the questions he would ask. But know this one thing for sure He is "aw ight" and i now the angels have heard him say I'm good. Missed but not forgotten

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

TO THE FAMILY OF SGT. TERRANCE D. LEE, SEVERAL WEEKS HAS PASSED AND I KNOW THE THOUGHT OF LOSING SUCH A CARING, GOOD HEARTED, LOVING YOUNG MAN IS HARD TO GRIP. BUT WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT HE WOULD HAVE LEFT US THIS SOON, I AM ORIGINALLY FROM THE MOSS POINT/PASCAGOULA AREA AND A TRAVEL A GREAT DISTANCE TO PAY MY RESPECT. THIS COMES TO OUR COMMUNITY AS A BIG SHOCK BECAUSE TERRANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE LAST PERSON THAT WE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT TYPE OF TRAGIC WOULD OCCUR TO. I KNOW THAT THE TOWN IS IN DEEP SORROW AND I CAN'T KEEP EXPRESSING MY SYMPATHY FOR THE FAMILY. I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL BECAUSE A PART OF ME WAS TAKEN WHEN HIS LIFE WAS TAKEN ALSO. JUST REMEMBER WHEN YOU LOOK IN THE SKY AT NIGHT YOU WILL SEE A STAR THAT TWINKLE AND THAT STAR IS TERRANCE LETTING YOU KNOW THAT EVERYTHING IS ALRIGHT.

The Final Inspection

Author Unknown

The soldier stood and faced his God

Which must always come to pass

He hoped his shoes were shining bright

Just as brightly as his brass

"Step forward now, soldier,

How shall I deal with you?

Have you turned the other cheek?

To my Church have you been true?"

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,

"No Lord I guess I ain't

Because those of us who carry guns

can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays

and at times my talk was tough,

But, I never took a thing

That wasn't mine to keep...

Though I worked a lot of overtime

When the bills got just too steep,

And I never passed a cry for help,

Though at times I shook with fear,

And sometimes, God forgive me,

I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place

Among the people here,

They never wanted me around

Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,

It needn't be so grand,

I never expected or had too much,

But if you don't I'll understand."

There was a silence all around the throne

Where the saints often trod

As the soldier waited quietly,

for the judgment of his God,

"Step forward now, soldier,

You've borne your burdens well,

Come walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,

You've done your time in HELL."
