Thank you Amy Adams and a great big hug to your son for honoring my son on his baseball jersey! I am ever humbled and awed by those who remember and honor my son, no matter how much time has passed because then I know by all of you he ( and the fallen with him) are truly always remembered. I noted the number 24 also on his jersey. Christopher was 24 then. I treasure these shared posts, thoughts, and memories of Christopher. They gave brought joy, happiness, and healing to my heart. Thank you!

Hi, I'm hoping this message reaches Chris' family, especially his mom. My son plays travel baseball and the organization does fallen hero jerseys to honor those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. Chris' name is on my son's jersey and he will honor him ever so proudly. We wanted to reach out to his family and offer condolences, love and let them know that Chris is not forgotten.
We would love to connect with you in person whoever this message makes it way to.
Thank you,
Amy Adams

Mrs. Lyons, I had no doubt it was you that day, but I dared not disturb you. I just wanted to make sure you were ok. I know from personal experience, that people who lose a loved one (actually one veteran friend told me, "they didn´t give their lives, their lives were taken from them by bad men) in War, never get over this loss, but learn to live with it the best they can. From what I read of Chris, he was a Christian ( I belong to Grace Brethren Church in Wooster) and that means we will all be together again. This is the blessed hope we share. We can never forget the heroes of our Country, the warriors who laid down there life to protect us from evil in this world. God bless you and may Jesus give you comfort to help get you through each day. God bless!

I was at Western Reserve Cemetery one day, several years ago, visiting a friends grave, when I noticed a lady who was lying on a grave near where I was. It was quite hot that day and I was concerned about the lady, as she wasn´t moving, and I stuck around to make sure she got up and was ok. After she left, I went to the grave to see who it was and it was Chris´. I live close by and decided to learn all I could about the young soldier she had been visiting. I do military history research and was able to find out all about Chris. From the documentary about his units service and the many articles and stories I found on the internet, I could see this young man was very special to so many. You could tell by just looking at him that he was a caring individual. It´s common in Europe for the locals to "adopt" soldiers´ graves at US National Cemeteries where they care for the grave, clean the headstone, and make sure everything is in order since their families are so far away. So, I decided to "adopt" Chris´ grave and stop by when I could to make sure it is ok.They do a great job, though, at this cemetery, so there is little to do, but I still check on his grave from time to time, and sometimes leave a flag or a little something, to honor his service. We have had members of our family KIA in past wars and I know that, although the pain may dampen a little over time, you never, ever forget them and they are still a large part of your thought life. I just wanted that lady to know that there are still people in this world who recognize the ultimate sacrifice their loved one made for me, my family, and the people of the United States of America. And that we care about their sacrifice and honor it, even if it´s just in a small way. I write this as I stand next to his grave and I pray for his wife, daughter, Mother, Father and all his family, friends and veterans who knew him. God bless him for his sacrifice and God bless those who survive him.

Thinking about Christopher a lot lately. I was at Barnes & Noble last evening, not looking for anything specific, and picked up a book called "They Called Us 'Lucky.'" Upon reading the summary, I saw that it was about Lima Company-3rd Battalion, 25th Marines and the events in 2005. I purchased it immediately and can tell already that it will be a hard read. As always, my family is sending so much love to everyone who was touched by Christopher's life. My wife and I wear a remembrance bracelet daily for him.

Trouble,
After all of these years, you’re still a huge presence in my heart. I think of you everyday and wish I could see you and hug you one last time. There are so many things I would share with you that I held back. I still can’t listen to “you are my sunshine” without getting tears in my eyes and hearing you whispering the song to me. Suddenly, I’m back in a time and place where things were simple and I longed for the next email or letter from you. I wish I had a way to hold onto your words and stories so I can reread them and feel close to you again but they will always be with me in my heart. One day, I’ll share our story with others. Maybe one of my daughters will be able to appreciate it when they are young women and their hearts need mending.
My husband and I finally watched your company’s documentary tonight. It was extremely difficult, as I knew it would be. I’m so proud of the person you were and your gentle, loving heart. I’m grateful for all of those who gave their lives for this country and their honor and patriotism is humbling. Keep loving down on us and being my sunshine now. Love you cup oo joe!

Il never forget how you shared your headphones with me in Al Quiem. I had just gotten to your unit and felt like I was an outcast. You guys were already through so much and I had just Ben sent to you guys as a "combat replacement" from a unit where we just sat on towers and are 3 good meals a day at a nice chow hall. I was so nervous about my first mission and you guys were all calm and cool. The day before we headed in we were all relaxing and hanging out. I didn't have an iPod or anything like that and with out me even asking you offered to share your head phones with me. We just lay there each of us with one headphone in our ear and listened to music. At that moment I began to feel like part of you guys, part of the unit. I will never forget you.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Lyons Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

I certainly rejoiced when I heard of the demise of Usama Bin Laden. I remembered your sacrifice and your reason for joining, and I thought maybe there was a little party going on in Heaven that day. Drove by your burial site to and from DC this last weekend, visited all of the sites and Arlington, and remembered you the whole time. Miss you, Kid.

May God continue to help you to cope with the loss of Christopher. While it is noble to give one's life for another, it still breaks our hearts. God has promised a time when our sons, daughters will no longer feel the need to give their lives for the sake of freedom. (Isaiah 2:4) . . .And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.

Chris,
Someone asked me where I was on this day in 2001. I was with you at work at BMW. (It is hard to imagine it has been 9 years)
For some reason I hadn't made all of this connect until today. We had been at work and Aaron came in and told us the first tower had been hit. You had a radio at your desk and sat it up between all of our desks so we could listen to the news coverage the rest of the day. I remember how upset you were about the events. On that day, none of us would have never guessed that you would give your life in Iraq.
Miss you and I still think of your family and pray for them.

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Christopher, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

Hey Chris. I drove by your memorial today as I do every day. I look over and think of you, and sometimes my kids ask me about you, and I tell them enthusiastically all that I can. Today I cried because I missed you. I don't often cry for you because I know that is not how you want people to live or to remember you - with sadness. I thought about the reason you joined the Marines, and I realized once again that you did what you thought was right. You had a purpose. I don't think you had to die and I still wish that we could go back and pluck you from this. The world misses you, but you did what you thought was right. You sacrified everything. I miss you my dear friend. Forgive my tears. See you tommorrow.

Christophers sacrifice will not be forgotten.
On May 27th, 2006 a bronze "Battlefield Cross" memorial was dedicated in his honor in his hometown of Shelby. The lifesize sculpture includes a plaque with his picture and information. Family, friends and fellow Marines of Lima Company were present at the dedication. Christopher is Shelby's "Hometown Hero" and we will never forget the sacrifice he made.

It is now May 25th, 2006, and I have just stayed up to watch the story of these brave men on SAT TV. The one thing about Lcpl Lyons that struck me, being a VietNam veteran of Navy service, was the comment made by the fellow who said he was his "prayer partner."
It is said that "'there are no atheists in foxholes." Bethany, I don't know you, but God has taken the spiritual head of your house home early (to His delight, not ours). This leaves God as the direct head of your household. Trust Him for your deepest needs, just as your husband obviously did--in prayer. He will give His Spirit to comfort you, as He gave His Son to die for your sins. He understands your grief, as He lost His Son while on tour here on earth.
But Jesus rose again, and I Cor. 15 speaks of our hope of seeing Jesus Christ and Chris alive in heaven, because He has conquered death by His sacrifice.
My brother also died earlier than most consider reasonable. You know, we WILL make it through life's suffering, if we'll trust God while we walk the path He has asked us to take, because He has a plan for good for each of us. Keep looking ahead to the joy of once again enjoying Chris's company for all eternity, and keep your faith in the Savior shiny, Who keeps you in the palm of His hand, and Whose grace will give you that glow of one who travels Chris's path of faith.
God is personally watching over you and your daughter. We are praying for you...and will continue. Greet your families for us. Hoping to meet you some day..."here, there, or in the air"

I went to pioneer career center with Chris. We hung out at our Bible studies in the morning. we remained friends after high school for some time.He was so full of life, and love for God. I will never forget the things we got through together. He was my dearest friend and the one I strived to be like. Chris I love you, and will never forget what you did for me. To his wife, I am truly sorry and you are continually in my prayers.

To my family,
I know the holidays were very rough without Christopher there. I can't imagine the pain and suffering you are still enduring. I know his funeral was the most touching and hardest i have ever been to. I hope his baby girl grows up to know what a wonderful and brave daddy she has. I pray everyday for you Phyllis and Aunt Bobbie (and family). He is truely "Our Hero"! I miss and love him.

Christopher,
I just want you to know how much I love you son. I miss you so much but know that your free now:
I'M FREE:
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid, you see.
I took His hand when I heard Him call.
I turned back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
to laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must that way.
I found peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys,
A friend shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times
and a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
God wanted me now. He set me free!
I love you Son.
Dad

To Phyllis, Bethany and Ella:
I was fortunate enough to meet Chris and blessed to get to know him when came back from basic training and returned to work at BMW. We became close friends in the short time that he worked there and he was a very special and unique person. His insight into life and quirky sense of humor are among the many things I will always remember about him. It was very hard to learn of his death and my heart goes out to you all. I would like to share stories about what a wonderful person he was and also to give you his belongings that I have from his desk at BMW. Please email me when you are able. I would love to drive up for a visit and meet you all in person. Chris and you all are in my heart and prayers.
Fondly, Jen Schuelke

My cousin was the definition of honorable before he even joined the marines. Everything he did was respectful and considerate. Saying he will be missed doesnt seem quite sufficiant enough, but I know that many others know what this is like. Thankyou to all of you for your kind words about my cousin. I am proud of him. I will not look at my freedom the same again. I love you Chris...Aunt Phyllis, we're all here, and we love you. Beth, I look forward to sharing stories...God bless

Dear Bethany, Phyllis, Ella & all of Christophers family:
I want to mention that I was totally devastated at the news of Christophers death. I worked with Chris at the Mansfield News Journal and he brought such happiness to our lives due to his quick wit, infectious smile and love for life. I won't ever forget him. He truly is a hero, not only from being a soldier, but from being the kind of person we all wish we could be. He truly loved his family more than life itself. I'll never forget the way he proudly displayed the T-shirt with the word "Daddy" when he found out he and Bethany were expecting...he showed us all, more than once, the day he wore it....he loved you both so much! Thank you Phyllis for giving us Christopher, even for a short time. I can only hope to raise my own children half as well as you raised Chris. My hearts and prayers are with you. I'll miss you, Bouncin!

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friend Cpl. Lyons. I did not know him personally but feel some how connected to Lima 3/25. One of my best friends, Sgt David Wimberg was killed on 5/25 in Operation New Market and I believe Cpl. Lyons was with him when he passed. From what I have read about him from other Marines who have sent information about Daves deaths he was a good soldier, friend, and son. My prayers go out to all in Lima 3/25 and pray the rest of you all come home safe.
