It’s many years later and I still have his number in my phone. Seems wrong to delete it. He’s still remembered by his friends. So very sad that his life ended. Thinking of him and people like him today, those living and those who have passed.
Thank you for your service friend.

In Memory of Jerry ~ (Debra Estep)
October 10, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jerry, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

SSG Bonifacio,
I bore you coffin, I dressed your uniform with your awards, I fired 3 volleys at your funeral, and I assisted in a small way in making sure your last wish to be buried in a KISS Coffin was completed. You became a part of me forever that day, and I a part of you. I will never be able to forget you. Now that I will soon be deploying to war myself, I will visit you again before going at your resting place. I have come across so many people in my travels who's lives you touched, you were truely a wonderfull person. All who meet you liked you, and you were and still are so loved by so many. It truely was a honor to make sure your military funeral was done right. I will carry your memory with me forever.

First of all to his family and loved ones I offer my deepest sympathies. My name is Gabriel Troy, I served with "Bono" in the 1st of the 502nd at FT. Campbell. He was my roomate, Battle buddy, and a true friend. He came with me on a few fourday weekends for Road trips to my home in PA and to South Carolina as well. He has always been in my thoughts over the years I tried to track him down and I finally found him. It saddens me that our paths in this life will not cross again, maybe in the next my friend. Here's to one of the most genuinely selfless people I have ever had the privillage to befriend and to One of the Best Soldiers I had ever served with. You will always be in my heart.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the Bonifacio Family.
Its still hard thinking about the day we lost a true friend and comrade. I always enjoyed being in the presence of Jerry. I will always remember the good times we had playing wiffle ball and video games on our time off. My heart goes out to your family as we have all suffered from this loss. I remember meeting you when I came home on emergency leave and gave you the items from Jerry's memorial service in Baghdad. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. But I am proud and honored at having a chance to meet the parents of such a great soldier, and man. RIP Bonnie, We will always remember you.

I served with Jerry at the 101st in Ft. Campbell. I would like to say that he was one of the nicest people I have ever met. Always generous always giving and friendly. Jerry never had a bad thing to say about any one and always had a smile. He had a hugh heart and never quit at anything. Everyone was impressed by his great work ethic, he could out work guys twice his size if you could keep him awake. That was the one thing we would joke about he loved to sleep if you gave him 2 seconds of quiet time he would be out. But I just want to send my thoughts and prayers to his family and say I'm sorry for your loss. I got to know "Bono" for a few years at Fort Campbell he was one of the guys out of about 10 I can say were true friends of mine. It is a great loss to a lot of people.

What can you say in such a small amount of space that can clearly encompass all the memories I have of my friend Jerry? How can one convey their saddness at losing him, and yet their joy of knowing him? Maybe, just maybe, I can scratch the surface by sharing the things I will carry in my heart to always remember him.
Jerry was the kind of person I could never stay mad for longer than a minute. He would drive me crazy constantly tickling me, poking me, pulling my hair, sticking his finger in my ear, scaring me, tapping me on the shoulder and pretending it wasn't him, messing up my hair, and just being an all around pest. I would be ready to strangle him but when I would turn around to grab him, he would quickly move just out of reach, give me a goofy grin, let out his impish giggle... and I couldn't help but laugh with him! Any anger would just melt away.
He never hesitated to help a friend out trouble or during a time of crisis, unless of course he was asleep during the event. You could have a complete two-way conversation with him that, in the morning, he wouldn't remember and would completely deny having. However, as soon as the details of the situation were clear, he would roll up his sleeves and help you pick up the pieces.
Jerry has been a dear friend of mine through some of the best and most turbulant times of my life. Through joy and heartache, successes and failures, the gaining of new friends and early parting of old ones, Jerry was always there beside me whether on the phone or in person. With him as a friend you knew you never stood alone ever.
There is no way I can thank Jerry for everything he has done for me in my life, no way to tell him how being friends with him has made me who I am today, and deep down I don't think I ever would been able to tell him because I wouldn't need to... Jerry already knew by how much we all loved him when he was here with us and how we were all drawn together, if only just that one weekend, just so we could all see him.
There was a reason we all came to know and love Jerry and I will always be thankful for such a great gift. Just knowing Jerry has made me a better person and though he will be greatly missed, I will always carry a piece of him in my heart.
I love you Jerry. We will meet again.

My deepest sympathy goes to the Bonifacio family. I will pray everyday for your well being.
Jerry (Beaver) & my brother were best friend’s ever since grade school. They couldn’t go anywhere without each other and there were couple of other guys that hung out with them.
Jerry was apart of all of our lives. He was there when I needed to talk rather it was a problem or I was upset he knew how to cheer me up and put a smile on my face. He would call all hours of the night just to say hi rather it was midnight or 2 am. He would want to talk about anything. From a new job or what he did over the weekend.
Jerry was an inspiration to all of us. He was always at peace, loving, caring, and always respectful to others. I will always love and miss him. I will always remember him as a brother and a kind friend.
You were the rock that I could lean on.
You were the friend that I could count on.
You were the sun that shined in my heart when I heard your voice.
You were the mountain that helped me climbed when growing up.
You were the inspiration that would inspire me.
You were the friend that everyone loved.
You will always be our hero in our hearts.

To the family of Jerry Lee Bonifacio Jr. I am so very sorry for your loss. Your son will
always be remembered as a hero. Be proud that you
raised a child who was willing to give the ultimate
sacrifice. Our nation honors her sons and daughters
who answered the call to defend a country they never
knew and a people they never met. May God be with you

To Michelle, the Family, and the Friends of Jerry Lee Bonifacio Jr. We heard about Jerry through my sister Chris Tronnes. Our nephew is Alan Miranda in the same division as Jerry, but with Charlie Co. Though we are "strangers", it is so heartbreaking to hear of another soldier who has sacrificed so very much, as well as all of you who knew and loved him. Please accept our sincere gratitude for Jerry's part in promoting freedom not only for his own country, but trying to give that wonderful gift to another country. Sincerely, Al & Cheryle Harte
