Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Reyes Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

It has always eaten at me, as I am sure it has countless others, that it has taken me this long to come forward with words of empathy and prayer. I've only now learned to come to terms with the tragedy that happened, what seemed to be like only yesterday. I pray that Luis' children grow to be everything like their father in strength, intelligence, perserverence and humility. To his wife Christina, I pray that you have found a great life after all this. That you know that you will once again see Luis.:-) It is in the deepest parts of me that I say, I am so sorry for the loss that has rocked Luis' family. Before he left, Luis wanted to learn how to dance to 'mexican music' and asked if I would teach him so he could take his wife dancing. My monumental regret is that I never made the time to show him how. Please know that he was a great man, a wonderful father and husband an outstanding soldier and that he had love and respect for all that he came into contact with.
I still miss you friend. May God keep you in his hands...until we meet again.

The Family Of SGT Luis Reyes,
Though, I knew him only a short time, Luis was a Soldier I would have been extremely proud to have had the oppotunity to serve in combat with. In the short time I had the pleasure to be blessed with his acquaintance, I know we lost A TRUE LEADER in the tragic accident that affected all of us. Our armory in Middletown Delaware has Immortalized his sacrifice, with a tree that has been planted on the property, along with a photograph and biographical explanation of his life and untimely passing.
God Bless You,

Sgt Luis Reyes,
I worked with you at Guy's Flooring in Denver Colorado. You were my supervisor for the Aurora housing district. Just want to let you and your family know you are not forgotten. I write this now from Baghdad Iraq August 24, 2009. It's been nearly 5 years since you were called up to the Lords Army. You were needed somewhere else at this time. I miss you but know it was thru faith a good enough reason for you to be called up(to the Lord). Thank you for everything you did with the little time you had here with us. From one soldier to another thank you for your sacrifice.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Luis, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

SGT Reyes was in my platoon in the 947th Engineer Company. My memories of Louis were that he loved his family with all his heart. When his wife was pregnant with their first child, he would come to weekend drill and give us "Updates" on his wife's pregnancy. After the birth of his child, he could not stop bragging about him. I will never forget the day he left us. He was the epidimy of a soldier who loved his country and paid the ultimate sacrafice in support of the freedoms that we all enjoy.

I still can't believe you are gone. Some days it hits me like a ton of bricks. It has been 8 mos since you went to heaven, yet I feel every emotion I felt when my phone rang at 3pm on 11/18/05 like it was yesterday. There are so many things that remind me of you, and there are so many things that break my heart because you are not here to see. Derrick told me the other day how much he REALLY and TRULY misses you. He never had and a never will again, have a friend like you. None of our lives will EVER, EVER be the same. I know you were a brother to him as well, but more importantly you were a great Friend to all of us. It seems like everytime a great day winds down and I sit in the silence of the memories I am still saddened to realize how much better it would have been had you been here to enjoy it with us. It was always the 4 of us-me, Chrissy, Derrick and you. A huge part of US is missing. I miss you sooooo much. I wish I could say through time I have learned to understand why this happened to us, to my sister, to your kids, to your mom! But I still don'tunderstand. Luis, it was such a blessing to have known you and have you be a part of my family. Your memory and legacy will live on for many, many, many generations to come. We love and miss you deeply. Til we meet again in the clouds.
always,
your sis, Linda

sometimes sorrow can best be healed with laughter. my most recent memory of sgt Reyes was at Ft. Riley. we were training on a "FOB" called Camp Forsyth and we had tower gaurd together for 4 hours. i got to know him really well in that little amount of time. everyone who knows him well knows his eyelashes were as long as a daddy long legs' legs. i asked him, "why don't you trim your eyes?" he laughs and says, "what? now? they will keep the sand out of my eyes."
even though i'm still very new to the unit, sgt Reyes made me feel at home here.

I am currently in Iraq and deployed with the 947th, along with SGT Reyes. He was truly what you would consider an exemplar soldier. I brought along a lot of spanish music and he seemed to really enjoy Reggaeton music. He would have me burn him CD's. I really got to know him after his friend (George) layed hard wood flooring in my home. SGT Reyes and I had talked about him re-doing my counter tops when we returned home. I, as well as everyone else here feels his loss. My most sincer thoughts and sympathy for his family.

I served with Luis in the 947th Engineer company. He was a special man who was my guidon bearer. I was his First Sergeant and we were always in front of the formations together, just me and him. We always took care of each other. He bought me a small Statue of Liberty from New York that I will cherrish forever. Thanks my friend for always being there with me.
