Just a random note on a random day. Found myself talking to a friend about you today and it made me smile. Thinking about grabbing Jon and headed up to see you this November. I donated some stuff to a JROTC museum in your honor. The kids will take good care of it all and they can help teach others about the sacrifices people have made. Thanks for looking out for me all these years.

Well Brother, I posted a message on the 29th and it doesn't appear to have taken it. All that matters is that you know how we all feel around here. We really miss you and look forward to the day we can all hang out again and talk about all the crazy things we've seen since you left us. I'll keep posting on here as long as it lets me. It's good to have an outlet where I can type something out. Take care Donnie, I'll talk to you soon.

You would be so proud of him. He is an incredible young man. He has grown into the person you always wanted him to be! Baby, you are and will always be my hero. I didn't get on to post yesterday and its bugged me all day. Did a little traveling this weekend and wore my black bracelet just like I always do. I don't travel anywhere without it. It's kind of like my way of bringing you along with me on a trip. I've started to like it when people ask me what the black metal bracelet is all about. I always tell people what a great person you were and how you were a hero. It's a good feeling knowing that I have an extra guardian angel up there watching out for me. I could use the help sometimes.

I can't believe it's already been 5 years. You're still missed. I think of days gone by where we all hung out and played video games and drank Sobe Lizard Blizzard. I was cleaning out some stuff the other day and ran across some of your old paintball stuff. I guess I need to send that off to your Mom one of these days. Thanks for watching over us.

Hi Donald Duck,
It's the 4th of July and you are the first person I thought about. I miss you and I love you. I hate what happened to you, but I have to thank you every time I open my eyes and I'm still free. I'm proud to be an American, and I'm more proud to say that you are my brother.

We just found out the news that Donnie made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Both my husband, Brian, and I are extremely saddened by your loss--Donnie touched our lives and luckily we have many great memories with him from our time in 1-66. He was both a wonderful soldier and man whom we'll never forget. Rest in peace, Donnie.

Donnie,
4 years have past and the more things have changed the more they have remained the same. While our lives continue so do our memories of you. I still think about my friend everyday and know that you are looking down on us and watching our backs when we can use a hand. I haven't had the honor to go and meet your Mom yet, but I promise that I will do that. She has sent me pictures and told me all about Donald Jay. Its hard to believe that the little kid that ran around the paintball field is getting so big. It seems that so much has happened in these past few years, but it also seems like you were just here with us, laughing, joking, and just being yourself. Donnie you have been missed for 4 years, you were missed today, and you will be missed for years to come. Rest easy my friend. We'll see you again someday.
November 28, 2009
My Dearest Donald,
Tomorrow it will be 4 years since they came and told me you had been killed. Part of me died with you that day. I still think about you and love you so very much. You would be so proud of Donald Jay. He is such a fine young man. He is so much like you. We talk about you and he will ask me, "Did my Dad do that?". I share with him all the wonderful things that you taught me and try to teach him all the lessons you would have taught him if you could have stayed here with us. Know that you are loved and missed more than words can say my precious son.
With love,
Your Mama

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Donald, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I served with your son In 1/13 AR during both of his tours. I knew him pretty much the entire time I spent in Kansas. We were'nt close friends, but you have a lot of people you know and bs with for five or ten min when you see them then you move on. He was a wonderful man and always there for his fellow soldiers. Quick with a joke and usually smiling. I think of him often, as well as the other men that we lost there. I am so sorry for your loss. God bless Donald and God bless your family.

I'm sorry for your loss.. Donnie was a wonderful guy. He always made me laugh when I was sad. At times when he would be his comical self I would laugh so much it would bring tears to my eyes. He was a great friend to me and my kids. He will always be in my heart and in my prayers. May God bless you and comfort you in your time of need.

Dearest Beth, Words can not describe the sorrow that the girls and I feel. God allowed us to experience the years of watching Donald grow into the wonderful man that he became. This was truly a blessing to our family. Donald was the other son, the other brother, the other uncle...Donald fit right in in our house, as Darrin did in yours. Know that we are very proud of Donald. Know that his smile, his goofy sense of humor brightened our lives and will be missed. We know that Donald gave his life for a cause that he deeply believed in. He was a dedicated and committed person. May God wrap his loving arms around you and your family and grant you peace during this trying time. When Darrin gets there he has a huge hug for you from all of us. Love to All, Debbie, Alicia, Amber, Dana, Dionne, Brianna, Athena, and Brittney

I am so sorry to hear about Sgt. Hasse. My son is stationed at Fort Riley and Donald was a very good friend to him. I was fortunate enough to meet Donald before they were deployed to Iraq. He was a very kind and funny young man. He will be sadly missed but warmly remembered by all who knew him.
