On this and every memorial day weekend I always think of you. You were my Filipino brother when I got to 167 and made me feel right at home. I thank you and Judy for inviting me into your home and family and sharing home cooked meals with me. I will never forget the kindness you shared with everyone, your positive attitude and the overall positive energy you generated. You and your family will always be remembered in my heart.

collado and I were in Japan together. He was my lil big bro. He was the sweetest guy anyone could ever know. I look at our pics that we took on the beach with our friends dwight, franklin, debeary, mario, hook and jackson. Man we had fun that year! I left and lost touch with him until one day I walked out of walmart in columbia and there he was. HIs wife and I were pregnant and we had our kids a month a part. We stayed in touch until he went to Iraq and I never heard from him again. I miss you big bro. Man i miss you so much. Thank you for being there for me.

Dear Collado Family.
Jay replaced me at HMLA-267 as he took over the position as the Intelligence Chief. I only new him for a few short months during the time of our turnover. And I really came to know and like him. I'll never forget the poistive energy that he brought to work everyday. He was always so excited to come in and learn what new things were in store for him at his new job. He was a breath of fresh air to have around the squadron, no doubt. He brought with him such a positive energy and an eagerness to learn. He definately was a great guy. The day he got hit by that IED I wasn't to far away in the Al Anbar province of Iraq and I remember seeing the report with his name in it. My heart sank and I was filled with grieve, because, I knew the counrty had lost a great guy and a young child just lost a daddy. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for his nation and should never be forgotten. He will always be a hero to me. God bless you Collado family.
My deepest condolences and utmost Respect.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I dont even know where to begin. I lost my childhood friend a cousin a brother a part of my family. I cant help but cry from time to time. This past week has been difficult and my heart aches I cant explain it but a part of me died.Let it be a song or a thought and I remember the good times we had. The crew we had too many to remember. Remember going to school? to Mayfest? to Jack and Johns old house? So many times to cherish. My prayers and love are with you and your family. May the Lord grant them Strength and courage during this hard time. I see that you have touched the hearts of many.I cant beleive you went to the Marines and let me go alone to the Army but I never held that against you my friend. My only regret is not being able to talk or see you before you deployed. Because I never got a chance to tell you how much you mean to me and that I love you. You will forever live in our hearts. I know you are in a better place. I find it hard to know what to say to you. My boyfriend was a good friend of Jay's and was also with the 167th. His name was Sgt. George Chevrette, Chevy to his friends. I lost Chevy on November 21st, 2005, he too has passed away. There are no words to express the kind of pain I know you are feeling right now. I take it one day at a time, but the pain is incredible. George always told me that the Marines take care of their own, and I find that to be very true. Turn to and lien on Jay's Marine Corp Brothers, they can be a tremendous help right now. My heart goes out to you and Jay's daughter. If there is anything at all I can do, or if you just need to talk, feel free to contact me. I would welcome emails from any of Chevy's friends at the 167t, especially anyone who knows how I can get in touch with Gunny Porter or Sgt. Major Allison. I would like to tell them about Chevy. Take good care and God Bless. Trish

Dear family of SSG. Collado,
I am so sorry for your loss. All of America shares in your grief.
There is a beautiful Christian song "I have a Father. He knows my name. He knows my every thought. He sees each tear that falls and hears me when I cry."
Praying that the Lord brings you comfort in your time of deep sorrow.

To Jay's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.
Yesterday, Today, Forever – Semper Fi - Marines!
Our sincerest gratitude for their bravery-

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

To the Family of Staff Sgt. Jay T. Collado:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.
