Not sure what to say?

September 12, 2019

I remember seeing Christopher's passing yrs ago scanning through google. He resembles my father who just passed at 82 yrs old. He too is a Schornak - father was Lenny Schornak. Dad served in the Air Force as a pilot for 20 yrs, 4 months. I am proud the Schornaks have a history of fighting for their country. I wish we could have met Christopher. My prayers of continued healing and restored joy. Sandra Schornak, Idaho

Chris was assigned to my platoon in Hohenfels back in 1997. A skinny kid, straight out of Ft Benning. He progressed to become one of the finest young Soldiers in the company. He was an exceptional Soldier, and reading the tributes here and other articles grew to become an exceptional man.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

August 8, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Robyn;

I worked with your husband in scouting and was a good friend of his family. Chris was a good man, always cheerful and willing to help.

I am certain he was an excellent husband and father.

Chris had a deep love of this country and I know that he knew what we are fighting for. You and your son are in my daily prayers. You both have a lot to be proud of although I am certain that if seems cloudy now. In time it will be clear.

I was out of the country when you were in Marietta and could not be with you but although you didn't know it, I was with you in Kentucky.

May God grant you pease and comfort.

Schornak Family,

It is with great sorrow that we morn the loss of Chris. But it is with great pride that we can say we knew him. Although we have not seen him for years, we have fond memories of our days together in Boy Scout Troop 75 in Marietta, GA. It was not surprising that he made Eagle Scout, for he always had the "right stuff." So it is also no surprise to learn from other guest book entries and various news accounts that Chris was a caring, competent husband, father and leader, and a hero in Iraq. The world has lost another wonderful person, one who made a difference. Chris, you will be missed by many!

Jim & Leslie, please accept our deepest sympathies. May God bless you in your sorrow, but may He also lift you up and give you pride in the knowledge that you raised a wonderful son, one who made the ultimate sacrafice so that others who he did not even know could live in freedom. You are in our prayers.

May you know God's comfort,

Schornak Family:

I live with my wife and family in the area where I am told that Chris grew up. It was our pleasure, but regrettably under these circumstances, to meet you with my sons, Jameson (9) and William (7) at the funeral mass at Transfiguration on 3/27/06 representing pack #710 of nearby Addison elementary.

While I did not know Chris personally, I am humbled by Chris' acts of selflessness and bravery, and his legacy is to us, that he lived out the ideals of being a Boy Scout, doing his duty to God and his county.

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it." Thomas Paine

My hope and prayer is that my boys will show the same character as Chris did.

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock! And that we now know our "Guardian Angel" personally!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

To the Family of Staff Sgt. Christopher J. Schornak:

I am saddened to sign yet another guest book. We grieve with you in the loss of your precious husband/son Christopher. I know exactly how you are feeling and what you must be going through. We too lost a son in Iraq on December 1, 2005.

As a wife/mother/parent I know there is nothing I can say that will ease your pain and sorrow over the terrible loss of your husband/son. I know your hearts are broken and there is now a void and deep sadness in your heart that will never be filled. While the pain will probably never leave, I pray the Lord gives you comfort, peace and strength of mind to help you cope with this loss over time.

This is an extremely difficult time, but hold on to those good memories of your husband/son….the ones that make you laugh and remember with joy the moments that you shared. The laughter between all those tears is one of the ways that will help you work through your grief. Christopher is a hero (a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities) and even though we were not fortunate enough to know him we pray for your family and for all those serving our country so valiantly. Our children have made the ultimate sacrifice and they will always be honored and never forgotten. Unfortunately these tragic events have bound all of us together and changed our lives forever. God bless you and all your family and may he give you the strength to go on!

Although I didn't personally know Chris, he was my brother. As a fellow Eagle Scout, I commend him for taking the call to duty and serving his country. I understand that loss is not easy to cope with, but Chris has made the ultimate sacrifice, the protection of his family, friends, and peers. Chris’ actions should make us all proud, and we should all live in his image. God bless America, especially the Schornak family.

Chris was one of my best friends from when we were 11 years old till the end of high school. We joined troop 75 at the same time and went to our first summer camp together. We went on to go camping together nearly twice a month for years to come. He was our chief in the order of the arrow, the guy that could hold a fire ball in his hands.I have so many great memories of the times Chris and I spent together. Chris was an awesome guy and that was a direct result of his wonderful family. While his passing is unexpected, the fact that he became a hero is not. My family is very proud to have known Chris and we are very thankful for his service.

It still leaves me sad to think of the loss of this wonderful man, soldier, father, and friend. My husband served with Chris at Ft Campbell. There are many people here that would like to pay their respects, but aren't sure where he was buried. I know this is a very hard topic to discuss, and I wouldn't even mention it if it wasn't important to those members of Bravo Company 1-327. Would someone please email me the information on where he is buried. All of us from Bravo Company would like to say goodbye to a very dear friend. My heartfelt sympathy to the Schornak family in the loss of Christopher. I did not know Christopher, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. Christopher you are a hero and you will never be forgotten.

I send each of you a hug from the most inner part of my heart.

Love and Peace

To the Family of Staff Sgt. Christopher J. Schornak:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. They will never be forgotten, never able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your memories will sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.
