Hi Oppa,
I can't believe I am 37 now... I am an old lady now lol (I can just hear you giving me flack about it)... Your death date just passed again (I hate that day every year), I have a new job and my boss is so amazing.. she told me to take the day off for you. Next year it will be 20 years since you've been gone. It still hurts so bad though. I am about to embark on a huge life event soon. Most of the family doesn't even know yet... I will report back after, but I already know you know. You are always looking down on me. I love you always. Thank you for being the best brother a girl could have asked for! - Kelly aka -kerry

Hi Kun Young !
It's New Years Eve and I miss you so thought I'd write to you. I feel like so much has happened, I guess cause it has, that you've missed. I can't believe it's going to be 2020!!?! Like holy crap time has flown by! It sucks going through different mile stones and not having you to talk to about them or see me through life. I miss you and I miss a lot too. I know you're up there with her and taking care of her. It's hard to lose the two closest people in my life. Anyway, thank you for looking over me even from you there and taking care of . Love you Both so much!

Day 4 or 5 now of crying. I'm exhausted. Where's the plumber to this leaky faucet? Today I will honor you for Veterans Day, then I need some rest. Have you ever cried so hard that you physically got sick? My head is still pounding, I may have a slight fever, and I had better take some vitamins now. I have only been able to sleep a few hours this whole week. I miss you. Sigh

Hey Oppa, tomorrow is veterans day, omma found a card you wrote of unnis from when she was in junior high when we all lived together in Atlanta. I'm not gonna lie reading that and remembering all those things about you totally made me break down and start crying but I wasn't crying in a bad way I was crying because I'm so sad yet happy to be able to remember all those things with you which brought up so many good memories that we all had together and that I had with you in atlanta and in my whole life with you I love you. I will always miss you but what gets me through every day is knowing that someday I'll see you again...
Love you always,

Day 3 of crying Kun Young. It's ok though, I see the sun light now. I can tell that my tear ducts are starting to dry back up and I am starting to smile again at least after each cry today. I'm sure you already know, but I just wanted to let you are an Uncle now. You have been an Uncle for over a year now. 2 of your nephews are named after you! And I just found out recently that 1 or 2 more nieces or nephews of yours are coming along the way! Ok, talk to you later.
Ok I lied. The knob on my tear ducts faucet is still broken. :'( All in good time I guess, all in good time.
Damnit. Now I just found out that stupid MySpace deleted everything you've ever wrote to me in my inbox/sent box probably bc it was 5 years ago. I keep refreshing the inbox button to see if your letters to me will reappear. They shouldn't have erased my messages w/o my permission. It is MYSPACE after all. Do you know if they have a national archives folder? Should I write to them & request that all of my messages need to be retrieved immediately or have they all been permanently destroyed? Well, at least Kelly will have some of your paper letters that you sent to her. I guess I could read those but it won't be the same bc those would be written to her and not to me. Geeeeeeeeeeeeze louise! I should have saved them into a folder. :'(
Ok, my eyeballs hurt. Happy birthday USMC SEMPER FI Lance Corporal Kun Young Kim. 236 years of THE FEW & THE PROUD TRADITION including of course YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I miss you so much My Brother, USMC Lance Corporal, My Purple Heart Hero Kun Young Kim. I think about u pretty much daily. I've been thinking about you sooo much this week. Omma found my old Summerour middle school days Sanrio Pachacco info card that u filled out when I lived in Hotlanta. It had our address on it, our phone #, and your bday 9-26-85 w/ your signature on it. You love pizza, rap & r &... b, the color blue & you did not particularly care for my favorite color pink, veggies, or country music. You collected cards, you liked Master P, you loved playing football & I liked to try & play football! You loved the San Francisco 49ners, Nike shoes, & you had a sweet tooth for candy more so than me. I miss going everywhere w/ you & ALL of the laughs we shared. You are my angel now though. YOU ARE ALSO FOREVER MY HERO. RIP 4/2/2006

We must never forget the bloodshed for our freedom. It's the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life and no one seems to ever relate to me. Ever. Losing a younger brother not even old enough to drink legally. He was a man who never had anything bad to say about anyone/anything. He just did what he was told. It never gets easier and I don't think I'll ever run out of tears. You've taught me how to live every day to the fullest my brother. The few, the proud, the USMC. Thank you again for your service to our country my angel, you are the finest human being that has ever walked this earth.
Mike Jackson likes this..Brian Pattison I shall Toast your Brother this friday along with all the other fellow servicemen that gave their all. I was struck with your comment that he did what he was told. when i was deployed in Operation Desert Storm people would ask why I was going and my response was because I was told to. Only a fellow service man can understand that answer. The world could use a lot more people like your Brother
Again I thank you. And I'm sure my family would thank you. You're words mean a lot to me and my family. And I am sure he'd appreciate that. In fact, he'll probably be able to see it! And yes the world could use a WHOLE BUNCH more people like him.
He even drew a self portrait of himself on this info card. lol His future dream was to be a football player. Well, I think he topped the charts by obtaining a Purple Heart Hero status instead. Geeze I haven't slept in 2 days. I had better start some Warrior Yoga or go to sleep now. I love you Kun Young Kim.
Brian Pattison if you have a picture of him i would like to share for all my fb friends what a true Hero is. if not I totally understand.

The Marine stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you Marine,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The Marine squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Marine waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, you Marine,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

With the deepest regreat, I have just learned of the death of Lance Corporal Kim. As a Vietnam Veteran and the State Chaplain of the Georgia Sons Of The American Revolution, I speak for our President, Charlie A. Newcomer, III and more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia in humbly expressing the condolences of a grateful Society. Wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, your American hero stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… his family!!!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Brother, it has been years since we have last seen each other or heard from one another. It was truly a sad day to hear the news from my sister, another friend of yours and your cousin, Kim. I know that you had overcome many obstacles throughout your early childhood and I see that you became a fine soldier and a great person.
Forever I will remember those days of us playing football together after church. You were always Barry Sanders, and I was always Emmitt Smith.

We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

To the Family of Lance Cpl. Kun Y. Kim:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.
