Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Brock, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

As I got up this morning I thought of Brock. Last year in Iraq around this time of year he was as busy as ever making sure that we had power and everything else that we needed; and, basically, that FOB Gabe was humming.
All of the concrete barriers in place around the sleeping areas at FOB Warhorse protecting our Soldiers are a monument to his dilligence. . .one that he paid for with his own blood.
I'll forever remember that day when we spent the last moments with Brock. . .it was a sunny, warm day just like today. I watched a professional medic prep him as we interacted with him. I remember asking him what his blood type was and he reached for his sleeve pocket where his ID tags were. I smirked as I told him to relax and I opened the pocket for him and noticed the "FOBBIT" tab he had attached under the flap (shaped just like a Ranger tab, a private joke.) He was doing so well. We were triumphant when we put him on the helicopter and he was alive!
It was with great shock that I got the phone call a while later from Frank Muggeo (in contact with the medical facility) who told me that Corporal Bucklin "didn't made it". I said "Sir, I just want to make sure that I understand what you just told me. . .can you tell me that one more time?" We couldn't believe it. When I shared the news with everyone, I saw people lose control of their emotions or just withdraw. No one that day expected that we would never see Brock again.
I just want to say that I'll never forget Brock. He did his duty well and without fear. I don't believe there was any fear in his heart that day. He was a brave American and his family, particularly his son, should be very proud of his life and the example he set for others.
I'm a better man for knowing him.

Bucklin,
Today's a day to remember you and all the great things you have done. We really miss you coming around and just hanging out on weekends. Most of the time I think you were just there to see our chocolate lab Buddy. You two would play for hours. Ha Ha! Even out in Iraq you were always helpful and looking out for everyone. We are so glad that we had a great friend like you and just someone to talk to especially. There's been so many great memories you've made and that will never be forgotten. Scott wears his memory bracelet with your name on it everyday. I don't think he's even taken it off for a second since he got it. We've sent them to your family also and hope they cherish them just as much as we do. We love and miss you very much and you are always in our thoughts.

P.S. Hope you are up in heaven sharing all the great stories you've shared with us.

Hey Brock, Connor is home now and we are having our first child. Not sure when the next deployment will be but we know it will be after our childs birth. We're having a girl. Connor still has a hard time talking about you but sometimes at night when he can't sleep he talks. He has a braclet with your name on it and wears it everyday and so does Sgt Weasman and others. We still think about you all the time. Even still I can't talk about you with out tears even though I shouldn't cry since you would always want us to smile and went out of your way to make sure we did. I hope your family is doing well and knows that we all still love you and think about you back at 1-68.

To the entire Bucklin family, my deepest sympathy and apologies for not being able to attend the services for Brock. I have many fond memories of Brock and the rest of your family. To Buck and Family...I want to say Thank You! Thank you for one of the most moving memorial services I've ever attended! Thank you for your families ultimate sacrifices, the injury of one son and now the loss of another. You all have paid so great a price, may the Lord's mercy and grace be sufficient for you. Thank you Buck for your tribute to all vetrans and active military and also thank you for your many years of leadership at Steelcase. THANK YOU Brock for paying the ultimate sacrifice for me and my families freedoms. Though I've never met you, I hope to personally thank you in heaven some day. I'd also like to thank some others: Thank you to the Freedom Riders who lined the entrance with an old glory salute. Thank you to all the military who participated in the service and paid a great tribute to their fallen soldier and a big THANK YOU to all of our active military who are putting it on the line every day and fighting to protect our freedoms and liberties, may God bless and protect you all! Thank you to Sean Hannity and his freedom concerts, raising college funds for kids of our slain war heros (Buck, just a note to check on this for Brock's son). Thank you to all the local police, fire and other civil servants who participated in the service. And, and a final thank you to that young boy playing basketball on cascade road who stopped to salute as the funeral processional passed by, you renewed my hope in the next generation of Americans to perserve and protect our freedoms and to pay proper respect to those that paid the ultimate sacrifice to do so. God bless you all!

To the family of Spc. Brock L. Bucklin:

I can only imagine what you and your family have gone through since being notified of the death of Brock. I want you to know that you are not alone. Hearts of families all over are grieving with you.

You are living the nightmare of every family who has a loved one serving his country. I know this time is a difficult one in which no words can express how you feel, just as no words can express how much I feel for you and your family. But know that God above carried Brock home and said, "an awesome job - well done."

The path Brock chose to follow has not ended.

He now walks in a different place. Not one of war and heartache but one of happiness and eternal peace. His life will continue to touch your family and anyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His life reflected his love for his family, his country, his military family and his compassion for those who do not know the meaning of freedom. His life is an inspiration and should be an example that we all follow and honor. Brock has not left you, he has been re-deployed to Heaven.

I wish that I could ease your pain and sadness, but it will be a long, slow and painful climb. Pain this deep will never go entirely away, but I pray that as each day that passes the hurt becomes a little less. And the memories of a lifetime will sustain you. The memories are your keepsake that can never be taken away. God has Brock in his keeping, but you have him forever in your thoughts and hearts.

I hope that this letter will help to begin the healing process, so that your memories of Brock will shine through the sadness. I will continue to pray for you and your family.

with Love & Concern from the proud mother of a US Marine

Brock's mission is completed and now you are left to remember him with the wonderful memories that he made with your family. May his memory be eternal!

Most of us can't believe that Brad and Brock could even be old enough to serve our country, let alone go off to war. Brock brought us a lot of laughs at camp. We were very saddened to hear of Brocks passing. Your family has been in our prayers, since we learned of your boys service. You must be very proud of their commitments. We too have great memories of babysitting your boys years ago - and have told many friends/family about them taking the two of us to keep track of all 5 ! We'll never forget them teaching each other to climb the door jams and hang from them like monkeys :)

What a beautiful family you have raised. Love and peace to all of you. May God bring you strength in these difficult days.

Dawn, Duane and Family,

I wanted to send you my deepest sympathy in this very hard time. There are so few words to express how sorry I am for you. Not only was I a neighbor of yours on Aspenwood, but also lived a few houses from Brock on Wyoming. I am so honored that I knew him and will always laugh when I think of the time that Brock and Brad jumped on me while babysitting and we went through the screen door. Not a good memory then, but we can all look back and laugh as we got older. God bless you and your family, and God bless Brock, we will all miss him.

Words cannot express the sympathy I have for your family. Corporal Bucklin served his country proudly and bravely. Please take some comfort in knowing that our country is doing its best to ensure that no serviceperson dies in vain. As a member of the Naval Reserve, I feel very empathetic towards your family. I want you to know how many families are thinking of you, and sharing in your pain. Losing someone you love so far away, when every day has been one of worry and hope, is a burden we always hope we never have to carry. Brock must have been an exceptionaal young man to be where he was, doing the job he was doing. I know he was more than exceptional to you. My son Benjamin Schuster was KIA in Ramadi Iraq on February 25, 2006. Every day is a new challenge. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
