Hey buddy, it's Memorial Day, 2015. Oh Jeremiah, I miss you so much. Not a day goes by that I haven't thought of you. I'm at TAPS again. We just did Rolling Thunder and it was an awesome sight to behold, all those bikes in the parade. It really hits home on how many men and women served in this nation. I rode with a man who's uncle served and his plane was shot down and he was never recovered. I will be forever grateful that you were able to come home to us. I miss you buddy, I miss your smile, oh God I miss your hugs and kisses. Thank you for serving our country and keeping me safe. You are and forever will be my hero. Remembered this Memorial Day and every day.
Love you,
Mom

Walking down memory lane, especially this time of year, remembering the happy little boy opening his presents and the charming young man he became still loving opening his presents and all the "Merry Christmas'" we shared. Miss you so much. A new generation of little children making memories around my Christmas tree now, but the ones we have of you will always be special and cherished.Love you so much, Nana and Gramps

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and to also let the Santos Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one, Jeremiah S. Santos US Army Corporal. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Jeremiah. Every so often I read something that brings me closer to you. "Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear." Remembering you on this veteran's day Jeremiah. Love nana and gramps.

So proud of you!

June 15, 2006 – June 15, 2014 8 long years without you
We honor you every day Jeremiah, in many different ways.
It may be looking at pictures, and reminiscing about what was taking place when the picture was taken, it may be sharing some memory with a family member or friend. It may be telling someone new about “our” Jeremiah. Looking at pictures always bring back memories of both sadness and joy. We miss you so much. You are always in our heart. Love you, nana

Eight years, where have they all gone? I have missed you every single one of them. I wonder often what you might have been doing now had things not happened the way they did. Would you have been the history teacher you wanted to be? Or would you still be in the army? I know you loved serving your country. Would you have given me grand babies by now? I miss you so much son, I can't believe how long it has been and it still hurts as deeply as when I was told you were gone. I love you buddy, thank you for being my hero, thank you for all the wonderful memories I get to revisit to remember you. I'll see you in Heaven....

Seven years since we received that horrible news that you had been taken from us. I miss you so much Jeremiah. I miss that little boy, that brought us all such joy, I miss that young man that went to fight for our country, and didn't return. I miss not knowing who you would have become. I just know you would have continued to be that wonderful person you were meant to be. Continued to bring joy to so many. Be at peace my dear grandson. We shall meet again. Love, nana

June 14, 2013

How can it be 7 years. Sometimes the pain in my heart is so deep, as deep as it was the day those army personnel came to the American Samoas and stole that part of my heart that would never grow back, never really heal, just kind of buffer over a bit so that I can manage to get through my days and find peace and joy in my memories of my little boy who grew into the man you became, the hero who was killed in Iraq fighting for the freedom and safety of his country and those of another. I miss you so very much buddy, so very much. From the first moment you were in my arms you owned a part of my heart. I'll love you for always...I'll love you forever...as long as I'm living...

Once again on this Memorial Day 2013, we raise our flag and looked towards heaven and know you are looking down on us. We go to a special service honoring you and all of the men and women who have died on the battlefields in past wars,in Iraq and Afghanistan. Too many still dying in Afghanistan. Sadly, we pay special tribute to you on this day, but every day we remember that special boy in our life. The joy, the love you so freely gave. You are always in our hearts. We miss you so much Jeremiah. love, nana & gramps

It's been a good weekend Jeremiah. One of healing and reflection of my wonderful son and who he was. Once again, we were able to get together in Washington DC to celebrate your life and honor your sacrifice. I take great pleasure in sharing your life story here and hearing the stories of others. I wonder Jeremiah if you meet some of the men and women that are connected to the parents and loved ones down here. You will never be forgotten, and more people know what a magnificent man you truly were. Thank you for the light you brought into my life, I will never allow it to go out.
Love you forever, love you for always,

You are constantly on my mind over this Memorial day weekend wishing you were with as all instead of watching us from above. Take Care and thanks for keeping a good eye on us from above. To the family of Cpl. Jeremiah S. Santos:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (651/286-7296) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans' name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (651/286-7296) or email the office ([email protected]) and leave your name and contact information.

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Saturday 25 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sunday, 26 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one's cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Respectfully,

Jeremiah 04-06-1985 – 04-06-2013
Yes I remember the day you came into this world (April 06, 1985) and with so many great memories of all the days you were on this earth. Remembering so many happy times. Easter egg hunts, with the excited smiles when you found an egg. Christmas presents that lit up your face. Birthday parties with those special cakes your mom made for you and that always made you so happy.
But most of all I treasure the many hours we got to spend together. Some were on the road traveling in the motor home, some at antique engine shows and oh so many just at our home. You just had that special way of connecting with people. You brought so much joy to everyone, young and old. What a legacy!
Remembering the day you left us (June 15, 2006), forever changing our lives.
I am so proud of that little boy and the man you became. What a lucky nana I have been to have had you in my life and cherish all these memories.

Thank you my son. I had to work today, I usually get it off, but was unable to this year. I am thankful to you and other service members that make it possible for me to be able to have a job in freedom, to do a job I love. I love it when I care for men and women that are in the service, it gives me a chance to thank them, and in a small way give back to them by caring for them and their new baby. There are so many who have fought and stood up for our country. Thank you Jeremiah, I miss you so very much. There is not a day that goes by that you do not bring a memory to mind. There are not as many tears as there once was but they still flow. There are also those days when a sweet memory of my little baby, or my small boy, my growing teen, my proud young man, my Jeremiah sneaks up and pulls out a smile upon my lips. Thank you for those memories buddy, the ones that help me past the tears. I love you.

Veterans Day, Nov. 12, 2012. This is the day we honor all veterans who have served to defend us. Some are still serving our country. Many have returned to life as it was. Many have returned with great challenges to overcome. Many, like you Jeremiah paid the ultimate price to let us live free. I miss you so much and try to visualize just what you would look like and what great things you would be accomplishing if you had been able to return to us and to life as it was. We love you. Six years of missing you. Six years of missing the man you were becoming. Six years of hoarding memories of every second I had with you. Just over twenty-seven years ago I held you in my arms and we made our first memory in your first breaths. But really, is it crazy buddy, I remember the hiccups you had when you were inside me. From the moment I became aware that you were inside me we began making memories together. Thank you so much for each and every one of them. They get me through the days when I remember the soldiers coming to me in a suddenly very lonely hospital in the Samoas. They help me get through the anger and pain of losing my wonderful son. See you in heaven buddy where we can make memories again forever. I love and miss you so very much.

Memorial Day, May 28th,2012, a special day set aside for all to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who have given their lives so that we may live free.

For me, everyday is a Memorial Day. I not only think of how much I miss you Jeremiah, but search for some peace as I recall the years, days, hours and minutes of joy you have given me and many others the few brief years you had with us.

The one thing that cannot be taken from us are those wonderful memories that now mean so much because it's all we have. You left your mark with so many and a scar in my heart.
You are an angel in heaven now, and one day we will be together again.

I will continue to honor you not just on Memorial day, but every day in every way.

April 6th, 1985 you entered my life a small fragile blessing that I fell in love with the moment I found out you were inside me. Your smile infectious, your loving heart a warmth I miss. I loved cuddling with you when you were small all the way on up through when you came home on leave from Iraq and with a silly smile climbed into my lap and let me rock and sing to you "I love you forever". What a wonderful young man you became, I miss you so very deeply. Not a day goes by that memories of you don't pass through my mind, that missing you doesn't tug painfully on my heart....

Hey my buddy...
I continue to miss you more and more every day. Some things have eased a bit in my pain. I try very hard to focus on the happy memories instead of all the "what might have beens". I also work to remember you were never really "mine" but always you were and are a "child of God" simply mine on loan. As the day of your passing comes in just hours from now my heart grows heavy with the sorrow of the loss of your physical presence in my life. Every one who was touched by you in this life, I know, continue to touch others. All remember the special young man who gave all to his family and friends. I am warmed by people who come to me and tell me "Jeremiah" stories. Who remind me that you live forever in those lives as well as my own. My wonderful son, although I am not able to hold you in my arms...I hold you in the presence of my heart always. I delight in the memories of the moments of my life that you were in. I treasure each memory of my life that I shared with you. From the very first moment you were placed within my womb, the first second I looked into those beautiful eyes and held you tight within my arms after your birth, and the knowledge of your existence was made known to me to the last moment I shared with you this life and you went to the arms of your Heavenly Father. I thank you each time I remember when you last let me rock you in the rocking chair when you came home on leave and sing to you. Most would probably chuckle that a 20 year old man would let his mother cuddle and rock him, but I am forever grateful for that precious memory you gave me. I know I will see you again in our eternal life where every tear will be wiped from our eyes and only joy and peace will exist. I am so very grateful for the privilege of time I was given to spend with you. Thank you for your sacrifice. I hope you are able to see what Carden saw as he visited Bahgdad and traveled the road where your life was ended on this earth. The new life that is cherished there, the children who are able to run safe and free because of your sacrifice and others like you made. You are their hero as well as mine my dear son.
Love you forever, love you for always, as long as I'm living...my baby you'll be...

Jeremiah we love and miss you so much. Every year we put a tree on your grave trimmed with ornaments selected by each one of your family. It is our way of being with you to celebrate your life and the life of Jesus Christ. You both have left a mark on our lives, brought purpose to our lives and sacrificed your lives for us. You will never be forgotten. One day we will all be together again.

I cannot believe it's been four years! I still have your phone number saved in my phone (and I've gone through three phone changes). I’ve been waiting for that random call in the middle of the night.
I always knew you have become a Guardian Angel to all, but I didn't have my experience until about a year and a half after you entered the gates of heaven. I was heading back from Bismarck to Minot with a friend and it started lightly snowing. Halfway to Minot it got really bad and the ice and snow created ruts that you had to drive in. Somehow my wheel went out of the rut and the vehicle started spinning. My friend was completely freaking out, but I remained completely calm, only because I felt you there. It was like you placed your finger on the roof of the car to keep it on the road, keeping it in the same spot, spinning. We spun a perfect 360. I want to thank you for saving my life that day; little did I know I was pregnant with my baby girl at that time. So, really, thank you for saving our lives.
You are an amazing person that I miss every day. I’m so proud of what you were doing for your friends, family, and country. I cannot wait to see you again! Love you, Jeremiah.

Again Thanks You SOO MUCH Jeremiah for all you have done!

It's be four years, yet I'm still waiting for you to come home. But I know you're already there. I love you so much Jeremiah, and I miss you everyday. Thank You for what you've done for our family and our country. You make me proud to be a soldier, and proud to wear US ARMY over my heart, I wear it for you big brother. We'll be together again someday, but until then, know that I miss you, and I would not, COULD NOT, ever forget you.

Tomorrow marks four years my son. April 6, 1985 until June 15, 2006. You are soooo very missed. Raising my children taught me so much in my lifetime. Learning how to be a better person by becoming a better mother. You continue to teach me even in your death. Learning how to get through each day with the loss of you, teaching me how to be strong. You are teaching me how to continue to have faith in the One who I believed for so long had abandoned me, I miss you so very very much. Not one day goes by that I do not remember you....remember your smile...remember your kindness, your sometimes not so fun cocky attitude that you would use to get to people, but most of all I remember your heart...I remember your love for people...I remember my wonderful son and how very grateful I am for the 21 years I was given to spend with you. I love the opportunities I am given to share my story of you so that more people will remember you. I will never forget....I love you my son....today, tomorrow and forever and I am so very proud of you, you were an AMAZING young man. Thank you for my freedom.

Remembering all those days helps me to get through June 15th. I miss you so much Jeremiah. You are like one of the five white doves in the sand dollar you loved to collect. On this Memorial Day, 2010, we are remembering your life, death and legacy Jeremiah. Your life was so filled with hopes and dreams and you were on your way to achieving them all. You were such a joy as a young boy, you brought so many smiles to our faces as we watched you grow. You became a fine young man but was taken from us far too soon. We are all so proud of you. Although we are selfish and wish you were here, we know you are in a better place. We will join you one day and see the miracles you are still achieving. Until that day, we will continue to honor you in every way we can. We love and miss you, Nana and Gramps.

To the family of Cpl. Jeremiah S. Santos:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Memorial Day Sunday worship service at 11:00 a.m. on 30 May 2010. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the neighboring states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.

The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses to represent all of the wars in United States history and give honor to all who have served their country and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today.

I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, U.S. Army Chaplain Col. Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled “A Day of Remembrance.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and place poppies at each of the crosses. An honor guard squad will be on hand to fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the memorial garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception; weather permitting will be outside of the Chapel.

As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. To do so, kindly call (612/970-7866) and leave a voice message indicating your veterans’ name and the number of persons attending. For more information about the Foundation or driving directions to the historic chapel at Fort Snelling, visit our website at: www.fortsnellingmcf.org Special rates for nearby hotels will be available. For more information call (612/970-7866) or email ([email protected]) the office and leave your name and contact information.

Also, beginning at dusk (8:30 p.m.) on Sat 29 May through dawn (6:30 a.m.) on Sun 30 May, a “Prayer Vigil for Peace” will be held in the sanctuary of the Chapel. You are invited to stop by, light a candle and place it at the foot of your loved one’s cross in the Memorial Garden … and then enter the Chapel for prayer.

If you are not able to attend, we pray that you would find comfort in knowing that our prayers are with you and all of the fallen heroes.

Jeremiah, it is that magical time of year when we look at all the twinkling Christmas lights and remember all the times you lit up our lives with the twinkle in your eyes and that great smile of yours that always captured our hearts. You had us all wrapped around your little finger.
Your Christmas memorial tree has been decorated. Ornaments put on there from all who love you. It was so wonderful sharing this honor with mom this year. In doing so, we remember the reason for the season. Christ died for us. You died for us. Jeremiah, you will never be forgotten. We love you and miss you so much. Nana

I had the pleasure of meeting Jeremiah through my best friends husband Randy Huff. We all hung out when they were stationed at ft. hood. Jeremiah was always the quiet one. The day I found out he was no longer with us I fell to my knees I didn't wanna believe at first. He was a good person. He will be remembered always. Randy went on to name his son after Jeremiah, they both have the same middle name. Our prayers are with the family.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jeremiah, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It seems like yesterday still that I heard those words about you being killed in Iraq. The pain doesn't seem to get any better. I have your picture everywhere I go and the one of all three of my kids, the last one I had taken of you all together on the back of my badge, but you know, it is not enough. Anyways, the 15th, today, will be especially difficult. We will be traveling up to Job Corp tomorrow and visiting the tree they planted in your honor. I think I talked to the same man I always did when I went to pick you up on weekends. We will also fly that special flag we were given that they flew over the nation's capital in your name tomorrow. I only fly that one on special occasions in your memory. Oh baby I miss you so much. I try to think about you being up there with all the people you know and love and know that one day I too will be with you there, but it really doesn't make it much better. Your brother is with nana and gramps for the month and I am so grateful for nana and auntie Linda taking such good care of your place...I could not have laid you in a better place...I am anxious for the day when I am able to be there more and be close to you...You are never far from my heart or mind though...I love and miss you so very much....

Jeremiah, This is an especially sad time for me. I miss you so much. You left us so suddenly 2 years ago. I will always remember looking at you on my web cam and then you said "something's come up nana, I gotta go". The next thing I knew mom was calling me telling me you were gone. Somehow it just doesn't seem fair. I know you are in a better place and we will meet again one day soon, but it doesn't lesson the pain I feel now. Your family loves you so much.

It is Well With my Soul.

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, You have taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste my day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall appear,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well (it is well)
With my soul (with my soul)
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

This song has a lot of words I feel in my heart. I'm glad your mom chose it. I love you and miss you so much, nana

Memorial Day, May 26th, is a day of remembrance. A day we pay tribute to all of the brave soldiers who have given their lives for us.

For me, everyday is a Memorial Day. I often find myself in that dark sorrowful place. I not only think of how much I miss you Jeremiah, but search for some peace as I recall the years, days, hours and minutes of joy you have given me and many others the few brief years you had with us. I look at your pictures evey day and your beautiful smile still touches my heart. The one thing that cannot be taken from us are those wonderful memories that now mean more than ever. You left your mark with us.
You are an angel in heaven now, and one day we will be together again.
For now, I will continue to honor you every day in every way.

Jeremiah, you are in my heart and my thoughts today and every day. This special time of year I reminisce about all the Christmas’ we had with you. All the joy you brought to our hearts. Your contagious smile, that made us all smile. How proud you always made me feel with your accomplishments, big or small. You were always so grateful for everything you received and so giving of yourself. You left us so much, such a legacy, but I still feel so empty. I miss you. I know you are in a better place, but I am selfish, I wish you were still with us. We continue to honor you every day in some special way. A prayer, a thought, a flower. We all love you and miss you. There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
