October 5, 2021

Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Benjamin S. Rosales US Marine Corporal.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Benjamin, you have left such a large whole in our hearts that it feels like we lost you yesterday. I know you are very proud of your Mother, Maria. She is such a selfless human being, actually, she is one of the prettiest angels we have here on earth. I am proud to call her my friend and sister in life. You were always such a good boy, a great student and a loving son and brother. God rewarded your love by having him next to him in heaven. You are always in my heart "mi gavilancito". I love you. You have an amazing mother Benjamin. I was honored to escort her during the memorial ceremony in Tomball, Tx yesterday. She definitely has a lot of love for you. All the things that were said about you made me realize that you must have been a good son and a very motivated Marine. I'm sorry you didn't get to come home after your tour in Iraq, but rest assured that you will always be remembered. Thank you for your sacrifice Marine.

You sacrificed you life so others thousands miles away can enjoy the taste freedom they never imagined to have. You will never be forgotten. You will always have a special place in the heart and mind of millions of people in Iraq. I never met you, but I know you planted the seeds of freedom in a country they never dreamed possible. As you look down from heaven and see the seeds of freedom you planted before you left, already bloomed and blossomed. And for that we salute you and forever grateful.

To my Brother and Family

Words cant explain how an person feels after losing a special someone, me being a Marine for so long still cant come up with the correct words to show my sympathy. I sit home and cry many nights just wondering how my other brothers and sisters are doing. Ben is in heaven right now as we Marines say it Guarding our Pearly Gates. So when not on Earth Marines are still doing what was taught and expected of them. That why we are the best at what ever it is we may have to do. With that said please know how ever far i may be, i'll always be here for the Rosales family, just say the words and we'll come running. OOH RAH...

In Memory of Benjamin ~ (Debra Estep)

October 4, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Benjamin, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

In the short time I have known you, I have more respect for you than most people I've known all my life. I hope to one day be a good man like you. Please pray for us as you are closer to God than we are. We miss you and will always remember you.

I wrote a poem recently, and although it is about a flower (lilies), it reminded me greatly of those that have sacrified themselves for our freedoms.. They grew stong under the wathchful eye of the ones that nurtured them (YOU !!!). They were a part of our beautiful world and provided tremendous joy to your life and the lives of all those whom they knew. They matured and bloomed before our eyes into brave men and women that loved their Country enough to step forward and defend Her. I dedicate this poem to your hero. May God bless you and may He continue to give us strength. There is indeed much that we do not understand...I hope that you will share this poem with others you know, whose Sons or Daughters, Husbands, Wives, Nephews, Nieces, Grandchildren, Cousins or Friends have sacrificed all for our freedoms, not only in Iraq and Afghanistan...but in all previous military conflicts. Freedom is not free...it has been fully paid by women and men such as your special Hero. God Bless America !

At last a ray of Sun we see
Cold earth passed now ‘way in time
From depths of darkness toward light set free
Nature’s demand that we upward climb

Ne’r a bad day do we know
No matter… Sun or rain or mixture of
With tools and toil and sweat of brow
our seeds you sow with hope and love

Glimpse of nature, beauty ours
Luscious color, symmetry
Rainbow prisms on our petals
For you alone we bare our souls

Behold the Master with brim’med hat
Clips and mends; keen eyes review
The gardener’s gentle hand beholds
Our bloom admirers’ spirits move

What buzzing? Once was faint now loud
Black masked, goggled, treasures beg
Lights upon lilies’ caressing faces
Plunders nectar, pollen-smeared leg

Bright birds peek, once here now there
Elusive patterns…random flight
From creek on East…now toward the South
‘mongst lilies tall they chirp and flit

Fixed in place yet motion constant
Hypnotic rhythm yields to the breeze
Our life is brilliant never caring
Tomorrow distant…a night between

The dew upon our faces…wondrous
Rays of light with shadow dance
Clouds above form our cathedral
Euphoric with our lives of chance

Time bears no meaning…behold our glory
Nature’s beauty for all to see
The soil, the rain, our vivid colors
Remember always, we bloomed for thee

Benji, your birthday came and went just a couple of days ago and it breaks my heart to know you are no longer with us. But we celebrate your life and your great heart. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and your Mom, your brothers and Ali. You will always be my hero. Happy Birthday, Mijo.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To the friends and family of Ben:

Please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of your loved one. It has taken me a while to find the words to say. To Ben's mother, as the mother of Lance Corpral Edward Garvin's son Brent, i send my heart and soul out to you. Keep your head up and your love strong. He is forever a part of you and he will be watching over you and keeping you safe. To Ben's father, you taught your boy how to be strong and fight for what he thought was right. You showed him how to defend himself and he did that and so much more. You should be proud. Keep his memory alive, he will never truly be gone.

My heart goes out to all who knew Ben.

FOR YOU
Who wants to know my son Marine Corporal Benjamin Salgado Rosales
The time passed fast, but to me time had stopped when I saw the two marines at my door.
I never thought that would happen to me.
It’s nice to know someone, understands the big pain in my heart
I grew my kids with love and respect, between them and to other people in this world
I teach them to help and respect themselves and others, to be brothers and friends.
When my little Benji was around three years old his father found another way to go on his own, and I group my little ones by my self with pride giving them my time, my respect, and my love. with no government help.
One day I made a picnic at the park with my two boys Edgar and Benji, I bought three meals when Benji was about to take the first bite of his burger,he noticed there was a homeless man across our table, he was tall, skinny, had short hair, dressed with a blue grey color with a brown blanket under his arm,
The man looked straight at my little boy, So Benji wrapped his burger and gave his whole meal to the man. After I convinced him to share my meal, I told him that was nice,
That day I wondered who that man was ? But for sure I knew Benji was a BLESSING to this world, because he was a great friend, brother, son, and husband. He was a great human.
When he was around seven years old, I went through a surgery, and when I came back from the hospital I asked him stay by the restroom door if I ask for help, Call to 911
I explained to him about the surgery and the problems related to that. When I finish my shower there was my little son .With my warm clothes and my towel ready.
There was my little doctor checking my pulse my forehead for a fever, reading one of his books written by him.
(He wants to be a plastic surgery doctor to keep mom Wrinkle less)
Many times I had to work after daycare hours. I left them by themselves and I told them a little bird was telling me what they did.
One day around 6:00 am they came to my room and said mom somebody is knocking the window. We went very slowly to check who it was. It was a little bird knocking on the window. I told them the bird was waking them up to go to school. After that, they woke up very early every day to go to school.
With a few dollars he was the Santa clause for two of his friends who didn’t celebrate Xmas.
He convinced one boy who dropped out of school to go back. He walked three blocks every morning to wake him up. He took his friends tennis shoes and dragged him to the bus stop.
This friend graduated and enrolled with him to the marines. He is now fighting in Iraq .
He also helped one of his friend’s moms by giving them a few dollars so they could keep their apartment.
And a school best friend went with him to the marines who are soon going to Iraq to.
Seeing Benji with Angela his wife was a blessing. Her mother and father, were very nice with him, she made him very happy, THANK Angela and family. I know he was happy
THANK GOD for giving me, Benji as a son it was a privilege being his mother. Thank God for the people who were around my son, and still are even someone they didn’t know him.
Thanks to my family
Mary, Nancy, my sisters and my brother low Agustin, Anita for they Help.
All the staff at the air port, thanks for standing up with me it was beautiful
Thanks for a special beautiful lady who was with Martha Sagastegui she has a Hero with God to. GOD BE WITH YOU GOLD STAR MOM.
THANKS to the PATRIOT GUARD RIDERS at that moment I only remember. You all are like angels flaying around us taken care of my family and honoring my son Benji. THANKS to the police and to the people who were on the street when we came out of the church who stood by their homes as the precession passed by to salute my son Benji. THANKS to the Marines for the honor of being one of them.
I am very appreciated for your time and attention to this letter.
GOBLESS YOU THE VETERANS AND ALL OUR SOLDIERS!
You may wonder why I sing for him when we buried Benji. Each of my sons’ have a song I sing for them when they are going to sleep. It didn’t mater how big Benji was, when he came home to see me from the Marines, I would just hold him in my arms and sing for him.
THANKS to the Marines court for sending his closest friends to help me and be with me. In each of them I see a reflection of my son.
I received two phone calls from two commanders. It was like talking with angels’. Honestly, I was touched for the beautiful words and feelings that were given to me.
“GOD BLESS YOU MY MARINES”
THANKS to the comrades who were with Eddy and Benji (Rosie for Rosales) when they were hit by the I.E.D.{improve explosion device}. I also want to thank the courageous of the friends who took Benji’s pulse, and closed his eyes. God bless you and the roads where you walk or drive, from my heart Thank you. God keep you save.
To each and every one of you who read this, when you see a veteran, a Marine, or a solder in the military, try to treat them with respect and dignity and comprencion. They may look or seem rude to you, but never forgot they are warriors. They are metal men, but with big heart’s because they love, suffer, and know how to cry too. A metal jacket c protect you, but a carton jacket doesn’t.
If one day you see or dream my son, please let him know how proud I am of him and how much I love him.

Maria Salgado (mom)of Cpl.Benjamin Salgado Rosales.
I love you, I love you, for ever I love you. All ways with me my little son. R.I.P

“Paid in Full”
In Honor of The War Against Terrorism’s Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our minds we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the few, the proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

TO the family of Cpl. Rosalez,
I have met your son on many occasions, being that my husband is a mechanic in 2D LAR currently serving in Iraq and has worked side by side with Ben. We thought the world of "rosie" and he will be missed so very much. There are no words that can take away the hurt and pain your family is going through but know that your son is a true HERO. He was exceptional at all that he did and strived to do all to the best of his ability. he loved his family very much as well as his wife. I remember many conversations about getting married and how excited he was to do so. Ben will be greatly missed for he was deeply loved, admired and respected.

Words can't express your grief. Nor can I think of any words that could console your grief. My son, Erik, was in the same vehicle as Eddy and Ben. I can't express the emotions I felt hearing the news. I was so relieved Erik was going to survive but in the same heartbeat I felt a glimmer of what your loss must be.
Erik spoke fondly of both men. He carries their memories with him every day .
Know you are in our prayers as are all the young men and women who serve and daily risk their lives over seas.
